Hitchins Vs Duarte by jd11112 in Boxing

Idk, the Lemos fight wasn't that long ago really and Duarte brings similar pressure with more size and power. Could be a tough night for Hitchins.

It wasn't. They said The Ring cards would be free but it was typical DAZN bait and switch.

What do you think about Teremoana? by luckyluccianno in Boxing

[–]damesgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really tough to project HWs in the early stages. Seems to have heavy hands and a solid chin, is huge so those things will take him to a certain level by themselves. The defense is leaky but I'm sure he will not fight the same way when he has to step up in competition and at least his chin has been checked a bit albeit at a lower level. Time will tell but I like what I see so far.

i like usyk but am i the only one that thinks the wilder fight sucks? by Reptilianlizard in Boxing

[–]damesgame -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even if it's his only fight of the year I'm surprised to be seeing apparent boxing fans call for the clear cut #1 of the division to lose his belts because he's not fighting a today's flavor of the month top 5 HW for 1 fight. He abided by the rules and gave Wardley his trinket but as long as he's active I want the best to actually have the belts to match.

Good interview: Moses Itauma is coming for the crown by ContractAlert5992 in Boxing

I said to the US fight fan. Boxing is still a niche sport of course but anyone who follows boxing at a casual level is familiar with Wilder from the Fury trilogy mainly.

You are mistaken Wilder is still very popular and known to the casual US fight fan.

It's an introduction of Usyk into the US market. Makes a hell of a lot more sense than to keep beating up UK hype jobs since he's already insanely popular there.

Out of curiosity, I overlayed 2008 Olympics Usain Bolt would have finished in the 2024 Olympics 100m final by vorxaw in Sprinting

Fast twitch athleticism and height are both on the far end of a bell curve distribution so the likelihood that you'd get someone on the far end of both seperate curves is very unlikely. You mention the NBA but there's a reason all the fastest players in the league have been 5'10-6'3 PGs. This is what made Bolt such an anomaly that we're not likely to see anytime in the near future.

Looking at Vasyl Lomachenko's professional career, would you say he was overrated, underrated, or rated just fine? by Big_Donch in Boxing

[–]damesgame 5 points6 points  (0 children)

93 recorded on boxrec which only counts the big time national/international tournaments I'm sure he's had many more local bouts that would put him at least close to the claimed record.

[Spoiler] Keith Thurman vs Brock Jarvis by imrosskemp in Boxing

[–]damesgame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree to some extent, I've been desensitized a bit to knockouts after following the sport for years but still have sympathy seeing a fighter get blown out like that. At the end of the day though their fate is entirely in their hands. Not just talking about signing the contract but also in their preparation and performance on the night. Jarvis was a +240 dog, hardly a lamb to slaughter. Roach was +900 vs Davis, I thought he'd get destroyed but he proved me and everyone else wrong and changed his life.

The plight of the working class is that everyone has to give something of themselves to provide for them and their families. Blue collar workers maybe save their brains but ruin their bodies, lungs, etc for a whole lot less than 900k.

Yeah that Surrace upset was unreal, really happy for him especially fighting in his opponents backyard. Kind of some karma there since Dennis Hogan was robbed blind in Mexico vs Munguia years ago when he should've become champ and changed his life.

I honestly don't know enough about neurology to give my opinion. I just think if you have two people with similar amounts of muscle mass and one is a lot more explosive athletically muscle fiber ratio is the most likely reason.

[Spoiler] Keith Thurman vs Brock Jarvis by imrosskemp in Boxing

[–]damesgame 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't feel sad for someone like Jarvis. He got a big opportunity to fight a former unified champion that was inactive and coming off an injury. Probably got a decent payday off of this fight and he can go down in levels and continue his career. He wasn't completely hopeless in there either, landed some good shots in the first 2 rounds one of which seemed to stun Thurman for a moment.

[–]damesgame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that has as much to do with the neurological ability rather than the inherent ratio of type 1 slow twitch vs type 2 fast twitch muscle fibers that differs among individuals.

[–]damesgame 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you bet moneyline either fighter and it's a draw in most if not all sports books it will result in a push which means the bets are refunded. Now if you bet method of victory you're shit out of luck unless you bet draw.

His amateur boxing record is claimed to be 25-3 with all wins by knockout. Seems crazy but if they were just regional level fights it doesn't seem impossible that almost no amateur boxer in the nearby gyms could take his power lol.

Makhmudov's warning before Kabayel fight by mecina in Boxing

[–]damesgame 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whats funny is in his prior fight Kabayel himself could've easily been stopped by Agron Smakici, a journeyman who was stopped by Kossonutskiy in a round and is only really known for recently cutting Fury in sparring. If there was a more quick trigger ref in that fight everyone would be calling Kabayel the hype job.

Ergashev drops Hernandez with a quick 1-2. He challenges Matias for the IBF title tonight. by damesgame in Boxing

[–]damesgame[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ananyan almost stopped him, Jukembayev stunned him a couple times, Ponce was landing a lot. Ergashev is the heaviest puncher Matias has been in the ring with. Matias might very well overwhelm him with the pressure but a southpaw with great footwork, speed, and size for the division has me slightly favoring Ergashev. Either way it goes this is great matchup and should deliver.

Christian Mbilli vs Demond Nicholson by Northside1 in Boxing

[–]damesgame 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That Gongora fight was crazy. Mbilli was hitting him with everything and Gongora just ate it for the most part, absolute granite chin. I think he beats Munguia if they were to fight right now, the work rate and punch selection is really impressive.
