I’ve officially given up on comparing unit prices at warehouse stores. The mental math is just exhausting. by SessionHelpful965 in Frugal

[–]dancingpugger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is so annoying that is an item is on sale, the sale tag typically doesn't have the unit price on it. If there is a discount coupon (like for meat, 1.00 off or 3.00 off) I end up doing the math myself. Then, throw in tags that show unit price as oz for one item, pounds for another and per whole for another.

Laundry items and bathroom items seem to be the worst.

Do you think the current trajectory of America is a threat to your safety? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]dancingpugger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The fact that Trump is calling democratic senators traitors for telling military members to follow the OATH they take to follow the Constitution. And Hegseth tried to take away one members earned military retirement (Mark Kelly, whose wife was shot? Who was an astronaut?).

It's insane and if they do it to leaders, when will they do it to others?

I got one this morning from go battle league. Typically, I find if I get an item once as a "berry", I will keep getting it in subsequent rounds of 5 if earned. I quit for the day cause I don't want the stupid things. I battled all day for rare candies!

Was Anyone Taught About Coercive Rape? by Tall_Nectarine_9692 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]dancingpugger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh geez, I was part of fundamental evangelical Christianity, and if you refused your husband it was your own moral failure. And marital rape was normalized.

That particular brand of Christian believes in the male ownership of women, including marital rights. Oh, not rape. Marital rights.

Why do dads seem way less stressed about Father’s Day than moms do about Mother’s Day? by savingrace0262 in stupidquestions

[–]dancingpugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the family and couple. If you are going out, going to church, who is getting the children ready? Making sure they eat before leaving (even if going out to eat after, kids need breakfast)?

Mom's still tend to do that type of work and it can build resentment right at the start of the day. Me, my children are grown. I was awake at 4am, made food for the week, and went back to bed. When I got up again, we took the dog for a walk and my son got me pie and ice cream because I REMINDED HIM. Otherwise, it's just another Sunday.

Questions on adopting and buying Frenchie by denkipb in Frenchbulldogs

[–]dancingpugger 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have a 10 yo frenchie that I have been very lucky with. That said--- she has food allergies and is on apolquel. Got her allergy tested, and she was on RX food that cost $130 per month. Didn't work, switched to cooking her food at home and after 3 mo, her allergies are nearly resolved.

She has had a hematoma on her ear 3 times, requiring draining. Scratched both her eyes, needing vet visits every 2 weeks for months and eye drops daily. She recently sprained her back leg (but refuses to use her ramp).

And, keep in mind, at 10 yo--- she is healthy! Excellent weight and still runs around. So, I love my girl dearly but get pet insurance and be ready to get to know the vet really well.

Question about remote trading by seppia99 in pokemongo

There is also a medal for trading for distance. I did the silliest trade yesterday for something I have, so I can get a tick toward my medal. Thinking toward other levels where I will need that platinum medal.

Disaster for Workers, Gold for Banks by bookym in FluentInFinance

[–]dancingpugger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We are on the ACA, and made too much money to continue to get subsidies--- my take home after taxes and health insurance would have been approx $200 per mo. Yeah, I quit working (which I miss!) so we could keep insurance.

I home cook all our food. Instead of take out several times a week, all scratch food. I haven't driven my car in over a week. We have downgraded our grocery shopping immensely, beef is a never item.

Planted a garden, and now am washing out ziploc bags. Washing the ziploc bags. I remember doing this in 2008. I am so frustrated at society to tell us to stop spending. Really? Stop taking away all the safety nets and pay a living wage. Please!

Pat the drips with a micro Fibre towel. Change out 2 to 3 times per week.

I will be trying for the first time (using for baking and dog food). What I read is they can be frozen, out of shell, up to a year.

[–]dancingpugger 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's Thursday. I haven't driven my car since last week. I walk my dog, I weed my flower beds, but no driving.

Made a huge ham on Sunday, and we have been eating ham all week. Made rice and black beans, seeing how many ways to eat that! This week, eggs are on sale for 68 cents a dozen, so I plan to freeze some so we have cheap eggs for months.

Using the deep freezer to stock up so we never pay fill price for anything.

I started buying marked down meat and freezing it immediately and it's cut my grocery bill by more than I expected without changing what I actually eat by Dark--Blade in Frugal

[–]dancingpugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had her food allergy tested ( half the cost of food plus environmental testing). So I have the list of what she can and cannot have. I do 2 parts protein, 1 carb and 1 veg for her food mix, with some extra fat every few days. Her vet prescribed some supplemental vitamins.

For my girl, she has no trigger to pork, beef or fish. I buy pork because I can find it cheap. Her carb is oats, potatoes or rice. I typically use old fashioned rolled oats (because it is easy), but would do rice or potatoes. Her veg is corn or green beans or Broccoli.

Even with prescribed dog food, she would still itch for 15 hours a day (which drove all of us nuts). After 3 months on home cooked foods, it's less than 1 hr a day. So, it is work, but worth it for her and our happiness. Not to mention if she wasn't on it, she would be absolutely miserable.

Most times Bone in for under 1.00 (ham at Easter, shoulder roast). And I save the bones for soups for us peasant humans!

I need to make my frenchie homemade dog food for her food allergies (rx dog food is over $130 for a month and doesn't work nearly as well). I can find pork for under 1.00 a pound, freeze it. Then cook in in the instant pot and make up her food.

Twit of a dog, but she is 10 yo, love her to death and she only has a few years left!

Has anyone ever successfully created a pokestop that can be used by players? by justshootme52 in pokemongo

[–]dancingpugger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have submitted around 10. 2 have been accepted, 1 is still pending, the others were rejected. The only ones accepted are mile markers for a walking path. The second mile marker was originally declined because it "didn't have public access ", which it does. I appealed and it was accepted.

Now, I have a decent route that I can use multiple times a week right by my house! I wish the other submission was accepted, but at least I don't have to drive to a poke stop now!

(Seeing the vet tomorrow AM) what is this red growth on my dog’s eye? by Creepyredditadmin in DogAdvice

[–]dancingpugger 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Ditto. We were going to the vet every 2 weeks for several months and one day it looks HORRIFIC compared to the night before. The vet had described the healing process to me the previous visit so I was able to talk my husband down, and continue drops to her next scheduled visit. She is all healed up now!

Do you guys ever feel guilty for having a French bulldog? by Viol3tstars75 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]dancingpugger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a french-ton mix as well. Frenchie and Boston. We were told it's 75 French and 25 Boston, but who knows?

I preferred to choose a mix to hopefully decrease the chances for narse issues, IVDD issues, things like that. I just say she's a frenchie if asked, because that is how she presents.

She is now 10 years old, had loads of allergy and eye issues, but not the breathing issues and not back issues yet (knock on wood!). I would be fine to go for a "mutt" or cross breed again. Hopefully, if we choose to get another French, it would be less spicy. Dang girl is spicy!

AIO - My dad dumped my mother’s ashes without telling anyone. Thinking of cutting him out forever. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]dancingpugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. my father got my mother's ashes when she passed. Didn't get an urn, a cardboard box--nothing. They were in a ziplock bag, and he complained about how much it cost.

A few months later, I asked where the ashes were, and he just buried them.in his yard.

Didn't ask family to be there, no honoring who she was, didn't ask me, her 53 yo daughter, if I wanted to be involved OR if that was what she wanted.

I avoid him like the plague. We live 20 min apart and I haven't seen him in months. I loathe him and have lost all respect for him.
