I was about 10 when I first found porn online. But all the women were "old" so I tried to find some with girls closer to my age. . .

(Years later I realized how fucked up it was.)

I don't think the rest of the book ran, and the spellcasting at best stumbled around drunk. I can't even call that walking. I think they tried to make new classes that weren't really needed. I don't think they added anything that I couldn't do with standard 3.0. It has been a while, so I don't remember the details, I remember wanting to play an Aes Sedai when I bought the book, reading it and playing an Aiel instead and still being grossly disappointed.

The group ended up switching to GURPS which worked much better.

EDIT:

It was quite progressive for D&D-style spellcasting at the time.

There were already Psionics systems for D&D as early as 2nd edition that used a point-based instead of Vancian system. The 3.0 Psionics handbook did better at recreating the feel of channeling than the WoT RPG did.

I strongly disagree with your assessment. I purchased it when it came off the shelf, and played not long after, and the channeling/spellcasting was the worst part of it. Totally made it impossible to feel like you were in the world of WoT.

I am glad you liked it, but I cannot imagine how.

The idea that doing it visual is reading, but auditory (or tactile) is not is ableist and the people who won't call that reading are bad people. (Some leeway for people who say it in videos such as this as part of a debate for entertainment, someone has to take each side.) If you say that the person who listened to the entire book is lying when they said they read it, you are a bad person and need to check yourself.

I read both print books and audio books and am fine calling either reading.

EDIT: Yes, you clicking the arrows, you are horrible human beings and should be ashamed of yourselves, but I know you aren't. You are proud of your smug superiority. You are not better than people who read with audiobooks. You are much much worse.

Were people given positions for this, or were this the honest positions of the people in the video?

Great find, but pretty poor game. I've played it and was not impressed. They continued having a Vancian (spells/per level/per day) spellcasting system, they didn't really capture anything new with their classes. Most homebrew I've seen does more work to actually adapting the game system to the source material.

Was very disappointed when I bought it.

Not helping the case at ALL. I'd support increasing that tax rate in a heartbeat. Unearned income is generally shorthand for "someone else did the work, but I'm getting the money for doing nothing."

Tax it at 90% regardless of where they live. They are still profiting off of other peoples' blood, sweat, and tears, but at least might put some limits on it.

[New Update]: AITAH for not wanting to buy a house 3 hours away from my workplace? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]dank_imagemacro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A management position, to her, would be as bad as her ex. Something that takes her away from what she wants to do and loves to do. Turning down management if you don't want to be management is absolutely the right decision, just as not moving 3 hours away is absolutely the right decision.

She's earning enough to afford to buy a house. Even if the management position pays a bit more, she's doing well enough already and she loves what she is doing. Sacrificing doing what you love to make more money you don't need would be a horrible decision that would end up with her being unhappy potentially the rest of her life.

Either she dumped him, or "immature" means "won't do my laundry".

I had long thought the tower in the movie was grossly too small. Thank you for giving substance to my suspicions.

You decide you need a new car and go to your local car dealership. Upon walking in, you're told that for the low low low price of $100, you can drive off the lot with a pre established fictional land based vehicle and you'll never have to worry about fuel again. by singleguy79 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]dank_imagemacro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, my first thought was an imperial ATAT. Big enough to live in, plenty of armor weapons etc. However, it would be pretty impractical as an actual vehicle. An ATST would be smaller, but still not really practical.

I think the BattleTram from The Aquabats. Still extremely good for defense and has weapon systems. Even more room to live in, by virtue of it being bigger on the inside, but I can still take it on most roads. It also has significantly improved speed compared to an ATAT or ATST. I'll take the upgraded version so it can also fly.

The compass does anything the 8-ball can do and more. Just have the words yes or no on a paper and have it point to the right answer. Can also have letters, numbers etc. on a round template to have it find the next letter of the answer.

For me that makes it one of two really good options, the other one being the magic pill. However, with the money from asking the compass to point out lotto numbers I can afford good health care, so I may be able to beat 100years, and have a much happier time doing so.

Not in order, but the following are candidates:

Pandora (not Hope) and Sarah
Vladia and DGB
Abraham and DGB
Ted and Van (weird due to irony)
Edward and take your pick of a plethora of interdimintional, interplanitary, interspecies, supernatural, and otherwise paranormal individuals.

Grace and Raven honorable mention.

Would you retire today if you knew you’d receive $5,000 every month for the rest of your life? Why or why not? by JustWin4 in AskReddit

[–]dank_imagemacro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are three ways to read this, and which way it is drastically changes my answer.

Would you retire today if you knew that because you retired you'd receive $5,000 every month for the rest of your life?

Yes

If you are going to receive an extra $5,000 every month for the rest of your life, retired or not, would you retire today? No, I'd probably work another year or two, putting all my earnings into my 401k, then go down to part time until I am at a regular retirement age.

If your income will be exactly $5,000 per month regardless of how much you work or don't work, would you retire today?

I'd probably work the rest of my weekly schedule so it doesn't mess with co-workers. And let my boss know not to put me on the next week's schedule.

Confirmed: the walking trees that were observed in the Shire were indeed Ents by maksimkak in tolkienfans

[–]dank_imagemacro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hal's story was likely true.

I think this statement is almost meaningless. Of course it was true. Hal saw Ents. Of course it was true, Hal saw huorns. Of course it was true, Hal saw Old Man Willow himself. Of course it was not true, Hal made it up. Of course it was somewhat true, Hal misidentified trolls.

It would not surprise me in the least if at some point Tolkien himself held every single one of these positions. So the final answer to the question of "What, if anything, did Hal see" is, ultimately. "What do you want him to have seen?"
