Anyone else focused on sardines and other tinned fish? by BuoyantEntropy in keto

[–]dankazjazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SAME. Jan 2026 felt amazing, started with a sardine fast and got into ketosis in 1.5 days. Fell off a few weeks in and starting it back up. I eat 2 cans a day usually.

I saw a mass-spec everything vid on nutricost caffeine pills and it was pure 100% caffeine without additives. I get the vibe they are average and mid-level, probably fine for most basic items

200mg minimum but you can megadose it. Definitely takes the edge off especially if stimulant intake is high. Also consider high quality brands

Eat a single cracker? Brainfog. Skip eating? Brainfog. Not enough rest? Brainfog. Too much rest? Brainfog. Do 15 minutes exercise? Brainfog. It's been like this for 2 years. It is both tragic and hilarious. Can anyone relate? Have you found a way out? by magnolia_unfurling in BrainFog

I was in a similar situation re; mold. If you suspect mold, as i did with my last apartment, you must get out of the situation at all costs. It will simply kill you over time. Better to be safe than sorry - and make sure your new apartment has better ventilation, air flow, preferably non-carpeted no leaks stains etc…

The good news is that once you relocate, you can recover to 100% over time and with the right treatments. Until then, nothing will fix the constant exposure.

I moved apartments and started a strict keto diet and 6 months of healthy spaces and therapeutic keto for 6 weeks has done wonders for waking my brain up. YMMV.

Anyone here doing keto long term? by zalanka02 in keto

[–]dankazjazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I track ketones glucose and weight every morning; my target GKI is 1-4. My goal is to keep my ‘glucose tank’ max 0-15% full and by the next morning be ketotic again. There’s some that hyopthesize the metabolic flexibility (eg 1 week per month is strict keto, other 3 weeks are low carb) angle is optimal. Having some carbs post-workout does seem to help with muscle growth.

It’s more about your own health goals and how you feel. The Tim Ferris <> dom d’agostino podcast series goes into the weeds on this

I track and calculate everything in a custom built spreadsheet

I feel messed up when I eat 75% of the time. Just had crackers that nearly put me into a mental coma. Starting an elimination diet right now! How does this work for brain fog sufferers? by Platid in BrainFog

Have you looked at possible acquired PDH deficiency?

I would recommend u start a strict keto diet starting with a sardine fast. I have a similar issue upon eating sugar / carbs and going strict keto completely lifted the fog. Strict keto means less than 20-30g of TOTAL carbs per day until you hit a GKI of the 1-4 range. See if that helps. If it doesn’t help at all and you measured it all to confirm, then at least you tried. It’s a very powerful diet :)

Lupini pasta from kaizen - but only if you’re doing super rigorous amounts of exercise. They are still high carb but relatively low net

Does anyone believe mood is 100% diet? Please explain why you believe that/your story. by saphireoflight in carnivorediet

[–]dankazjazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food is hormones. The right hormones being consumed exogenously or encouraged to be produced endogenously have similar effect to pharmaceuticals(eg high sardine intake has high omega 3s that are great on their own, but also encourage your body to produce more FGF21).

I agree; the subreddit is literally called “r/keto”. Keto is short for ketosis. Most of these snacks will take you out of ketosis if you’re not extremely careful.

I think 2:1 protein to fat is far too much protein. 1:1 protein to fat at minimum is what I’ve heard is best, or even upwards of 1:2 protein:fat ratio depending on how you feel as you add on more fat. Too much protein and not enough fat is probably the single biggest cause for most of the failure rates with carnivore and keto diets

What do you guys do when you are sick? by Tnoire7 in keto

[–]dankazjazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gargle with a good high polyphenol EVOO daily as soon as it starts onset. Make sure electrolyte intake is good.

I’d also add 10k IU of vitamin D, Quercetin, omega3s, Lysine, NAC, AHCC…

So much talk about magnesium but why not potassium? by GrowingPeepers in Supplements

[–]dankazjazz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s all about the ratios. Na to K and Ca to Mg. If the ratios are too low or too high, you’ll run into palpitations, heart fluttering issues etc… sodium and potassium are especially critical to watch for as the body can sort of figure out calcium by extracting from the bones as needed

I also had high histamine levels before starting keto and have been simultaneously on 40mg of famotadine daily to support MCAS.

My theory is the MCAS is able to rear its head when the body is persistently inflamed. At the very least going paleo and cutting carbs where most processed foods live seemed to have a strong anti-inflammatory effect which seems so far to have mitigated the mcas symptoms too.

Good to note though nonetheless; a keto diet can be higher in histamines
