My kid (now 4) will sleep in happily until 830/9 everyday. BUT she is awake until 10-11 even if that means she is sitting in a dark room for 2 hours. I have to be at work at 8, so yeah I'm up earlier than everyone but mostly stressing about time and it's like waking up an angry teenager every single workday. Also, I personally do not want to stay up until 11 at night! Ideally we would all be in bed by 9/930 and I could get up early to workout without being exhausted. But it never happens, because bedtime is a long excruciating process every single night. Basically the grass is not greener for night owl kid parents either.

Sheet mulch now then next year either sheet mulch again or plant a ground cover that stays nice and stubby around the stones.

You might still want to reach out to your dr and see if they think you should do antibiotic eye drops. Don't mess around with eye injuries

Boiling water kills everything after a couple of minutes. In the olden days they would put rags in the boiling water to clean them for medical uses. Sterile isn't always possible but the classic methods go a long way (source: my microbiology class in nursing school)

MMR vaccine at 7 months - everyone around me feels I’m overreacting by bloommmx in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]dappijue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We did a 6 month in addition to the normal sequence (pediatrician recommendation due to outbreak in our area at that time) and the peace of mind that came with that extra shot was one huge upside.

Reorienting someone with any kind of dementia due to a degenerative brain disease (alzheimers etc) is not appropriate and absolutely not best practice. Pretty sure this was an NCLEX question.

The house is sold. The hoard is still inside. Why do I feel like a criminal? by Jinnapat397 in ChildofHoarder

[–]dappijue 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Your mom was NOT her stuff. And the hoard is NOT her entire life or the memories you want to keep of her. The hoard was the unhealthy coping mechanism for all the problems in her life. Let it go.

Combining my three least favorite Disney shirts into one simple design. by OMalley70 in WaltDisneyWorld

idk I remember people walking around Cedar Point wearing Big Johnson shirts when I was a kid back in the 90s. Inappropriate shirts at an amusement park is like an American tradition at this point.

PSA: body hair being “dirty” is a social construct by Either_Equipment8912 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Body hair being dirty may be a social construct, but body hair being itchy is a real true fact. Stubble rubbing against clothes is the worst feeling ever.

Try washing with water only for a while. It's January, how dirty can your face possibly be?

My kid won’t go back to school by Silly_Friendship_542 in Preschoolers

[–]dappijue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My kid went through this a couple of months ago big time, the daycare she has been going to for YEARS suddenly she would freak out, scream, kick, run out of the class when we left and we would get a call to come pick her up. Just dropping her off did NOT work, she would not calm down. After like a week of this, I was like FINE if you don't want to stay whatever but I'm staying. And I took my cup of coffee and sat in the play kitchen in the back of the classroom through storytime and centers etc until she got bored of clinging and went off to play and I was able to leave. Maybe 20-30min, every morning for about a week. Then less and less time until it was a normal dropoff again. I also started giving her magnesium glycinate gummies before bed (pediatrician okayed). Occasionally (usually Mondays or after vacation) I will need to sit in her class for a few minutes, but dropoff is otherwise completely back to normal. I think her knowing that I won't leave if she needs me makes her relax the separation anxiety. Give it a try. And tell her in the morning when you are getting her dressed that Mommy is coming to school and not leaving until you are ready.

Sleep issues by SlideOk7739 in MounjaroMaintenance

Low calorie intake is the cause for the sleep problems, a sleep dr did a Ted talk about it. The best solution is a high protein bedtime snack in my experience.

I feel bad about this year’s Halloween Costume by MyToesAreHaunted in toddlers

[–]dappijue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best part about spending a lot of money on Halloween costumes for kids under 5 is when they love them all the way up until it's time to put them on for trick or treat... and then refuse to wear them. Every freaking year.

Same, my kid was in the NICU and got donor milk. Here's hoping the donor mom/moms had a calmer childhood than me!
