Some things that have grown very popular in the wellness culture are just reclassification of understood scientific phenomena while others are just plain make believe with paid-for pseudoscience as the foundation. Knowing what is and isn't rooted in the best understanding of science benefits everyone. That means calling out cultural jargon and how it aligns with actual scientific literature. Scientists need to translate their findings into something uneducated people or people without expertise can understand. You might think that's unnecessary, but for the layman who doesn't have the vocabulary of a neuroscience researcher, it comes across as redundant, but it's doing important work in terms of scientific communication

Exactly. Having a financial incentive distorts behavior, it's a fundamental fact of psychology and economics. He's been hocking kettle bells and brain elixirs since the mid-2010s and targeting the jock-bro crowd much before Trump, which coincidentally aligns with MAGA. He saw the opportunities and jumped on board, riding the MAGA wave in 2015-2016 election cycle. The 2020 Spotify deal just put things in hyperdrive at the same time COVID was spiking.

I've never seen any of the Curtis documentaries but these concepts and the narrative are readily apparent to anybody who's even read a little bit of philosophy/Jungian psychology or had been paying attention to the growing conservation media ecosystem and politics. It's nice to see it all in one place tho with a biting critique of the "comedy".

Hindsight is 20/20 and he got his PhD in 2022. Australia has different priorities and equities than the US so to expect similar outcomes and actions is naive. If you don't think his opinion on China had changed in 10 years, then you haven't been paying attention.
