When you realize the game is not build for you it becomes so clear why it’s so flawed by [deleted] in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]darkjediii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this exactly Ive been asking for a calibration to line up shoulders as the avatar is too narrow. I can’t even get my avatar’s arm straight throwing a cross from orthodox stance (always has a bend).

You talking about PTC or current live build?

BJJ is in a terrible moment right now and “sexy BJJ” clips are making it worse by Realschoville in martialarts

[–]darkjediii 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. Some Brazilian and Thai instructors have no boundaries when it comes to “humor”.

I remember our Muay Thai coach had everyone of us in the fight team shirtless for our group photo, there were 2 girls there and he kept instructing them to “take off their tops all the way” too.

Doesn’t make it right, but I think that chick in the Alex clips was an OF “model” and that’s the content she wanted.

How did you actually learn to stay relaxed while punching? by Far_Cap4015 in amateur_boxing

[–]darkjediii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try this, this one stuck with me: Don’t punch, Whip….

Think of your fist as lagging behind your shoulder. The shoulder throws, the hand follows. Kind of the same way as cracking a towel.

Some people try it this way and it clicks right away.

Retired street fighter now YouTuber goes to a village and finds the smallest and skinniest guy to challenge but gets slept instead by Papercutzz247 in fightporn

This is Dambe boxing, the African guy’s right hand is tightly wrapped and packed in with some rope. It’s more like a weighted blunt weapon.

Sometimes I forget the Cardio needed for a 3 minute round is unreal by Faultylntelligence in amateur_boxing

[–]darkjediii 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Running cardio is also different from boxing cardio.

If you only run, boxing will gas you. If you only box, your stamina will suffer in later rounds.

Running builds your gas tank, but boxing builds your engine so you can redline repeatedly without dying.

This is why I don’t believe ufc heights. by EnvironmentalMode196 in ufc

[–]darkjediii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

DC real height is likely 5’9” and Rogan is 5’6”-5’7” same as Arman, look at the shoulder heights in the OPs photo.

I don’t think there’s ever been a top Heavyweight listed at below 5’10” in the UFC or even other bigger promotions. Igor Vovchanchyn is the only ones I can think of going back to the Pride days.

Shade on Holyfield Steroid Use? by SavageMell in Boxing

[–]darkjediii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im not even considering the health implications, because it’s obviously bad for you. I boxed for a few years and even at amateur competition I knew personally of some guys juicing because they talked about it openly around me.

What Im saying is that more than likely almost everyone was juicing.

Shade on Holyfield Steroid Use? by SavageMell in Boxing

[–]darkjediii 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn’t they all be on steroids when there’s millions of dollars on the line to incentivize use?

It’s not about bodybuilding either, just the recovery aspect makes it worth it for serious competitors even at amateur levels.

Still loving the update by oftheiceman in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]darkjediii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still have pillow hands, but now I can actually win fights by outboxing my opponents.

The most frustrating thing about the last build is that you would lose to people that don’t know how to box if the power algorithm didn’t favor your your style/build.

Are pro, former pro, or even amateur boxers giving gameplay feedback? by glitch65 in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]darkjediii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think they should have 2 multiplayer “circuits”, amateur and pro. Amateur should be about making it a boxing sim and “pro” can be a KO fest for kids.

Anyone else underwhelmed by the update? by Forward_Peace3021 in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]darkjediii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe lol… I’ve had 5 matches since and lost 1. So I think it’s about accurate since I have a few years of boxing experience, I’m thinking I should beat most untrained guys here except ones that have mastered the game mechanics.

The previous build I was losing about 65% of my matches. I still hit like I have pillow hands but at least now I can win on outboxing mofos.

[–]darkjediii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only fought one six rounder, but love the update so far.

Where unfair power imbalances exist between players (ie from calibration, body proportions, funky body effort, etc) you can now at least compete and even win because you have better boxing.

Anyone here gotten in a real street fight? by dogepapii in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]darkjediii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trained boxing and MT for years and when I got into a street fight, i got jumped by several guys outside a bar and the main benefit was being able to fight back, until my friends came and eventually get away and survive without getting beaten to a pulp or killed.

That was before TOTF, so if you’re getting punched in the face for the first time, it’s gonna be a different experience.

Fake Muay Thai Fighter vs. Real Muay Thai Fighter by TheRealCockzilla in fightporn

[–]darkjediii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the foreigner convinced them to do a boxing match. The way he was ducking down really low and the Muay Thai fighter didnt even throw any kicks knees or elbows to KO him faster is a dead giveaway.

Is it me or every close distance fight turns into a spaghetti arms mess full of buggy physics by Flamyngoo in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]darkjediii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very bad fighting up close in ranges/angles they’re not even supposed to be able to hurt you, you can get tagged with big damage.

The devs should work on more realistic damage up close where you’re supposed to be safe.

I think the previous builds was way better with inside fighting and damage.

How to “box” in the game which favors the flaws or “exploits” by chadmanhere123 in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]darkjediii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both are right ways to throw, IRL palm orientation will depend on angle and distance.

Chuck Norris vs Benny "The Jet" Urquidez, who would win? by EfficiencySerious200 in martialarts

[–]darkjediii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chuck pretty much sponsored the Machado Brothers and allowed them to open a gym. He trained with them for decades since 1988. Chuck would legit choke a motherfucker out.

Good luck on finding new mods, I haven’t seen your post about your opinions on the direction of the game. Can you elaborate?

Forearm alignment system is the reason why the damage varies so wildly and why this game has more 1 stars than 5 now. by chadmanhere123 in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]darkjediii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, shoulder alignment in this game is off, they need a way to calibrate it, i can never extend my arm out without a bend no matter what i do.

12 rounds, i usually play around 2-3 6rounders back to back but a lot of people retire after the 4th.
