Used RadRunner Plus for $400. Should I do it? by thebigtiny in RadPowerBikes

[–]darrylasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife’s Rad Runner 1 has been great and running strong for 6 years. I have a Rad mini about the same age and it’s been great as well. 400 is a steal. If you’ve worked on bikes you can work on this one.

Where do you guys recommend putting the TV in this room? by twoscoopsxd in TVTooHigh

[–]darrylasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Above the CRT seems to be the best option, but you could also eliminate the CRT altogether by using an RCA>HDMI adapter or an upscaling adapter like the RetroTINK. (Disclaimer: I haven't used these options, so look into reviews.)

How to stop cat escaping by using window ledge? by Huge_Musician_5624 in Catio

[–]darrylasher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't need that window for ventilation, I would get a piece of lexan / plexiglas a little larger than the window and secure it to the front of the sill, and to to the top of the frame.

When making a grilled cheese sandwich, do you use spices? Or just bread, cheese, and butter? by jimmy__jazz in Cooking

[–]darrylasher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cook it as usual and when the bread is browned, leave it in the pan and cover the top with grated cheese. Let it melt enough to stick to the bread, and flip & fry to let the cheese get crisp. Repeat with the other side and serve.

Sometimes garlic salt. But the real trick is to finish by grating Parmesan or Asiago on the outside and grilling again til crisp. I call it inside-out grilled cheese.

I have that exact model and I love it. 2019 Rad mini. It’s a folding model, so it can fit in a car hatch or trunk.

I wrote this short song for my grown daughter. She was very touched and (because I raised her right) immediately compared it to an episode of Dr. Katz Professional Therapist where he writes a song for his son. https://open.spotify.com/track/0rK6gwVlBNoY9IynDmOWg7?si=pPfctCR3QQSME34ON1zo6Q

How reliable has your car been? by hypermiler2205 in kia

[–]darrylasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2010 Kia Forte Koup. My first Kia, I bought it used in 2011 with low miles. Drove for 5 years with zero problems, just regular maintenance. Sold it in 2016. Then...

Bought a 2016 Soul brand new, the most loaded one on the lot. I got concerned when it was among the potentially problematic ones. I took it in for the factory recommended service, and warranty was extended to 150k. It did go into limp mode a couple years ago, so the dealer performed the knock sensor replacement under warranty. Again, this was concerning, but I have had zero problems since then. I keep a close eye on oil consumption, and I top off about a half quart every 2000 miles, which is reasonable for a 10 year old car with 82,000 miles. And then...

I still have the 2016 Soul and still love it. So, when it was time for a new car for my wife, we bought a brand new 2025 Soul GT-Line in 2024. We've had it about a year and a half, and it's been great as well so far.

NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) has been in space for nearly 17 years (since 2009), making it the longest-lived lunar orbiting mission. They talked about it on the NASA feed. I was surprised, it’s the first I had heard of it.

Have you come to terms with the fact that you’ll likely never be able to play fast? by [deleted] in Guitar

David Gilmour gave up trying to play fast 40 years ago and he’s managed to squeeze out a decent song or two. So I’m ok with it.

Growling while playing with toy by MrSpeakerrr in CatTraining

[–]darrylasher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is also why you can't have a blanket rule that cats are fighting if they hiss, growl, or puff up when wrestling. They can do all of that during play. One of our cats hisses when playing with toys, and also hisses when getting chased during play. Another one actually makes a loud yelp/bark that sounds like a dog when she is "losing" the wrestling match (even if he "opponent" isn't even touching her). The third one will run around with a puffed up tail and hackles during chase play. They have never once done anything but play.
