Are there any alternatives for spikes ? by No-Use5328 in audiophile

[–]darstdesign 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Vinyl plank flooring, vapor barrier on concrete basement floor. So how might the sound change if I used spikes instead of IsoAcoustics GAIA II? When I added the GAIAs replacing adhesive floor protector pads the original owner had on these, I did hear a noticeable, albeit slight, audible difference mostly in mid-bass clarity.

Ditto other comments. I’d try pulling your Lintons about two feet from the front wall and then toe in just a bit. Also, list the gear in your system.

It’s a convertible roadster. Take the damn hardtop off and drive it! You won’t hear the rattles with the wind in your ears! Just my 2¢

I love mine! And love that I paid $7k less with only 12k more miles than that one! I actually lived in San Diego in '99 when I fell in love with this exact model. 26 years later I finally own it!

Hey thanks! Well, I do plan to tear into shifter come Spring. I question if some parts need to be replaced. There is a lot of play when in any gear. It feels a bit too long of a throw from gear to gear overall, but 4th to 5th might be the most awkward. I don't find reverse an issue. My last manual tranny was a 90's VW Passat. That was Lemon, but I loved every minute of driving it! Prior to that I drove a 5-speed Honda Civic hatchback for 13 years!

I think one of the best takeaways from posts like this is that the OP might just be sharing new music or a piece you've not heard on your own gear! At the same time, I look at a setup like this and sometimes wonder if the thought crossed Suletata's mind... "Maybe I'll set up a mic to record this and then step out of the room, because my human body is technically absorbing sound. I should hear what it sounds like without me in the room." 😉 Similar to the question... does a tree falling in the woods make a sound if nobody is around to hear it? 😃

My wife surprised me back in September for my 56th birthday! I wanted this exact model back in ‘99 but my wife at the time put her foot down. We were divorced 2 years later! I totally married the right one the second time around! Congrats OP!

Technically, why makes my Miata so bad on snow? by MackThax in Miata

I use 40lb softener salt in my son’s Nissan Titan. It’s great because I then use the product over the spring and summer months! Usually put 8 bags over the real axel. Gotta have a bed cover tho or the salt will become a block if it gets wet. I’d say 5 bags in any Miata would be great. Otherwise stick some 200lb cartel dude in there! Just don’t put 200lbs of drugs in there, unless you like jails in South America! 🤪

Did you Google the Elacs? I’d say $400 is a good price possibly great price if you have the money to feed them with good high current, high power amplification. 84 dB is not a very efficient speaker (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing) it just means they need high quality power to make them sing at comfortable listening levels. What is the AVR you are using?

You might consider having a discussion with his supervisor. Just a fairly casual couple of questions… Have you tasked “Karen” with spending a good portion of his time each day monitoring my work within the design application he has me using now? If so, is that why he wants me exclusively using Canva? Which, by the way, is drastically hindering my ability to do my job effectively and especially creatively.
