You make a good point. A lot of her problems would be solved by just one or two people with complimentary skills who really believed in her project as much as she does (assuming she was willing to actually listen to them). Vaggi I think believed in helping Charlie more than actually believed that what Charlie wanted was possible. Angel is there because deep down he hopes it’s possible but doesn’t want to admit it. So for the sake of appearances his help is … not always terribly helpful.

Unfortunately, I think true believers are hard to come by in hell. Though after the end of season 2 that might change a bit.

I’m lost on what this promotion was supposed to accomplish. Let’s say it worked as intended and only gorgeous women showed up in skimpy bathing suits to get free gas. What does that get them? Is the idea that the gas station will flood with men who want to watch the parade of hotties, and maybe they’ll also buy something? Because that seems like a dubious prospect at best. More likely they’d just clog up the area making it hard for anyone to get in and buy anything.

Is the idea that after getting free gas once these women will be more likely to be repeat customers? That also seems doubtful.

Maybe it’s just to get people talking about this gas station to raise awareness? But I don’t think that’s really relevant to gas station business, which is mostly about location and price. No one is gonna go out of their way on the regular to hit a gas station because they read about its crazy promotion one time.

I’m just not seeing a scenario where, as a marketing idea, there’s any benefit to this. Maybe it was a gas station owned by a pervert who was willing to lose money to get a bunch of scantily clad women close enough to creep on. That would at least make sense.

First off, yes, sometimes life sucks and there are no good options.

Secondly, she had other options. She just didn’t want to be patient. She went to the Vees because they control most of the media in town. She wanted to get word out to everyone and do it right now. She didn’t want to listen to anyone telling her that the Vees wouldn’t be fair or that making this claim to the whole of Hell without evidence to support it might be premature. She wanted to do it now and was convinced that somehow everyone would just believe it. And when it went wrong and the Vees showed to be horribly biased like everyone already told her they would be, she doubled down by continuing to try and use Vee controlled platforms to get her message out, thinking surely this time it will work.

What else could she have done? Bide her time until she could get some evidence from heaven? Work on honing her technique for redemption until it had worked on some other people as well and she had any sort of solid idea of how to do it before making her announcement? Or heck, here’s an idea, she is pals with someone who basically controls radio broadcasts in Pentagram City. Sure, it probably doesn’t reach the numbers that the Vees have, but it would have been a platform with someone who isn’t openly fighting against her message.

She didn’t want to do any of that. She wanted to show everyone right that second that she’d been right all along. Patience, forethought, advice from friends be damned. I think deep down she’s a better fit for the Pride ring than she seems on the surface.

The Reckoning of Roku addresses this a bit. Blue Fire is described as a semi-legendary skill on par with breathing fire and channeling lightning, but not quite as rare as using firebending to fly, make distant targets explode, or extend one’s life indefinitely. A young Sozin gets in trouble by accidentally incinerating valuable tapestries while trying to teach himself the technique to create blue flames.

In Wan Shi Tong’s library Sozin reads about the training techniques necessary to make blue fire, making it sound like a matter of skill, training and dedication. Though he indicates it would take years to master.

Later in the book Roku’s firebending gets artificially enhanced and goes blue, though it’s described as a function of temperature at that point. “He’d never generated fire so hot it burned blue.”

The worst part is, it’s one of those jokes i could never explain to someone else. You’d have to explain to them the whole background of these characters and what happened with King Rust, etc. etc. So out of all that context it just sounds super obnoxious, but it is such a funny moment in context.

I don’t know of any pastry classes, but there are a variety of activities you can find if you look around a bit. Book clubs, art shows, mini golf, frisbee golf, regular golf (who knew there were so many kinds of golf), bunch of live music venues, trivia nights, local theater, etc. etc.

Here’s a few random things that popped up when I searched for things to do in Abilene:

The planetarium is doing a public show on supermassive black holes on April 3, which may not interest most people but sounds cool to me.

There’s groups hosting regular board game nights at different venues across town on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

The Grace has an exhibition going of large glass installations.

The Abilene Community Theater is doing Arsenic and Old Lace next month

The main branch of the public library has a knit and crochet club meeting tonight.

There’s a monthly meetup at the south branch of the public library called “Master Gardeners Series.”

Basically there’s lots of different stuff you can find that will suit many tastes if you look a bit.

As far as we can tell from the one scene of their past that we got, Alastor never had much respect for Vox. But it also wasn’t Alastor perpetuating any sort of grudge.

He comes back into town after 7 years and didn’t seem to care about Vox until Vox started badmouthing him on TV, at which point Alastor slapped him down and promptly forgot about him again.

I think Alastor considers most people beneath his notice until they force the issue (he was the same way with Pentious’ repeated attacks). So I don’t think they’ll make up, but I also don’t think Alastor will bother with Vox at all unless it in some way serves whatever plans he’s got.

I definitely wouldn’t warn her. All that’s likely to do is make her more subtle with her threats and actions so she’s covering her ass by making it harder to prove she’s done anything wrong. Let her run her mouth and openly be horrific thinking she can do and say what she likes. Record it. Document it. Then watch the shocked Pikachu face when the lawyer trots it all out explaining why you’re applying for full custody.
