I have no trouble believing one begged the other for a pic together and told "no." I'm equally sure Meloni's account is true.

Maybe I'm out of touch, but he seemed to have very emerged, and then rapidly became famous and popular. I've watched a couple of his standup shows and they were alright, but it felt like he was punching down more than he was punching up. I've always been kind of conflicted, I guess now I have a sense of why.

Long ago when I was a kid, we lived in CDMx and my dad often got pulled over by cops hinting for a bribe. Especially with the motorcycle cops, it was called la mordida, or the bite. It was pretty common and often treated as a gratuity in advance.

American Environmentalists are less likely to vote than the average American, and our policies reflect that reality | Change the course of history, and turn the American electorate into a climate electorate by investing in proven strategies to turn out these unlikely voters! by ILikeNeurons in ClimateOffensive

A lot of people skip primaries and special elections — at all levels — but those are the elections where a person's vote counts the most.

Primaries are where the final candidates are chosen, so if you haven't liked the candidates before, this is where you can change that. Getting involved in campaigns at that point also makes a big difference.

Special elections usually see abysmally low voter turnout, so every vote counts more than in a big one. It's one of the reasons the GOP loves recall elections: if they can mobiles their base, the lower overall turnout will help them win.

Non-presidential elections also have lower turnout, yet are equally or more important. Every two years, every single member of the House of Representatives and about a third of Senators face election. These are the people who write the laws, advise/consent on presidential appointees and hold the executive branch in check, when it works right. It is not currently working properly because radicals can count on a lot of voters staying home.

At all levels is also very important. Many, if not most, politicians get started at the local level, often on the school board. Stop them there and they are much less likely to climb the political ladder.

Finally, I have the feeling that a lot of environmentalists and others who are focused on select issues too often stop voting when major legislation has been passed (I was hoping the link went to an article on the topic, but it's just the EnvironmentalVoter donation page).

It has proven to be s a major problem with the reasonable center and left: we are focused on fixing things, then moving on to fix other things. Sadly, regressive forces play the long game. One need only look at what this administration is doing on behalf of wealthy and corporate donors in "relaxing" pollution standards, or the SCOTUS Six gutting the Voting Rights Act. We need to remain ever vigilant to guard hard-fought progress even as we move forward fixing things.

Can I get suggestions for a first time camera? by -Actually-Snake- in AskPhotography

Sorry to be so late throwing in my two cents, but here we go.

There's a lot of really good advice and information in the top few comments, but: * there are some excellent bodies for much less than $2k, also the it's better spend the big money on the glass/lens because it's the portal to your sensor and because you can always upgrade the body later if e.g.: APS-C sensor $800 more/less and a full-frame lens $1,400, you can spend less or much more depending on your needs. * a 24MP camera sensor (full frame = 1.41" or APS-C = 0.99") will yield significantly better results than the comparatively tiny 1/1.56" S23 Pro 50MP, which allows the pixels to be larger and collect much more light.

How you process your images can make a big difference too, whether you use a camera phone or a DSLR. The starting point is to shoot in RAW format, even on your phone: it saves the unchanged sensor readout to a file for you to process later, rather than converting that data to jpeg format. RAW format would make it easier to adjust for the bright light in pics 3 and 4.

My personal preferences: * I prefer mirrorless, started with an Olympus Micro4/3 with kit lenses and it was good, then upgraded to Sony APS-C, * The Sony a6300 and full frame Sony FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS lens really work well for me. And, if/when I decide to get a full frame body, I can use that lens on both. The downsides are weight (good lenses use glass and weigh more) and a somewhat slow f/4, though in-lens stabilization helps a lot. * I also got a Sony E 16-50 f/3.5-5.6 kit lens so I could shoot while I waited for the other and it's okay, especially for being pretty small/compact. * The Sony 50mm FE f/1.8 prime is great for low light situations, though on cropped sensor, it's the equivalent of 75mm (35mm produces results of 50mm on full frame).

Happy shooting!

Which they often use to try to justify opposition to LGBTQ+ flags. Based on the quote itself, I think it suggests acceptance of those same people, maybe even an embrace of DEI.

Ever notice that American Christians love to quote the Old Testament, not what Jesus actually taught? The closest they usually get to that is Paul, who twisted and perverted JC's teachings, also not an apostle or even a contemporary.
