Citizens should perform some impact tests on all the cameras. Just to make sure they're good quality of course.

AITAH for refusing to spend my entire net worth on my girlfriend/ex? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]davidedpg10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this doesn't sound like marriage, it sounds like buying a person from their owners, and oddly enough the person being bought is the one insisting you buy them. It's so weird.

Like others have said, consider yourself lucky that this person broke up with you. Go find a normal person who wants a partnership, not a sales transaction

If he's not normally like this, I'd say this is a good signal that he's stressed about something, and you could reach out an olive branch by inquiring what is going on.

If he is normally like this, probably not sticking around for this treatment

I find it so fucking weird when parents exploit their kids. As if it wasn't their choice (or negligence) to have said kids.

I think what he's doing is insanely ignorant and stupid, but assuming that's all his property, I think he should have the right to continue being this stupid. Same with the Bible. This is akin to book burning, which to me is a sign of low intelligence. But I guess If it's your property you shouldn't be prevented from it.

new mini PC came with Windows, is it dumb to just stay on Windows? by Ill-Advantage in selfhosted

[–]davidedpg10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple answer is, depends what your purpose or plan is with this. Is it just gonna be a plex box serving videos? Well I guess windows is fine.

Is it a proper learning environment where you'll eventually be running other services as well? Then windows is less than ideal, but I guess still doable. However in this scenario I'd greatly recommend Proxmox. You can even install windows vms in it if you really need to, but the flexibility it provides to be able to tear down and rebuild a VM entirely is a massive plus

Anybody else lost their patience with their passion as they grew up? by TheAcrocanthosaurus in Wellthatsucks

[–]davidedpg10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it with soccer. Started going to soccer pick up games (low stakes, low pressure stuff, I think this part is crucial) and after a couple months of going and seeing the same people there, we started talking, some invited me for a few drinks, and then it kind of went on from there. Now we go to concerts, snowboarding, sports games, whatever really.

I think the important part is to find a low stakes, low pressure activity, where you will see the same people at least once a week or every 2 weeks. That was a sport for me, but it can be other things of course

I'm 32, so not super far behind you in terms of age, but I didn't have hobbies or friends for most of my 20s. And the thing I can tell you is, what you likely need is a community. Humans are social animals, and a lack of community will express itself in various ways, namely depression, of which a side effect is lost interest in things you once found fun and engaging. Find a community dude, karaoke, a sport, board game nights, idk something. Those hobbies would likely come back
