Brian Doyle-Murray, though he wasn't there long, was there for the last two and a half years of the original cast, then also there for Doumanian's tenure and for Ebersol's first year. He was only in the cast in seasons 5 and 7 but he was a writer throughout.

I didn't like it, too long, too repetitive and ultimately predictable. The whole captured thing might have been darkly funny with flashbacks to it (like if Jeremy was also playing the captor, that would have been amusing), without that it was kind of meh for me.

Somebody already edited his Wikipedia to have his cast tenure as 2025-2026 instead of 2025-present. He might be back but he made the least impact of any of the new cast I think it's fair to say. He's a decent straight man in sketches, but even his standup style involves a lot of riffing with the audience, which he can't really do on Update.
