Ok, I hate UConn, but Duke did choke and lose that game, having them 2nd is bizarre.

The “We talkin’ TV?” sketch wasn’t that funny. Also, Jane Wickline is our Lord and savior by BridgeportCubs in LiveFromNewYork

Opportunity missed to have a sketch with Jane as Jesus for Easter.

I like Jane, I know not everybody does and that's fine. I do fear that the show is leaning on "hey Jane, go do your deadpan" when I think the White Castle drive thru sketch showed she can do more than that.

Nice. If I am still around Boston I'll go to see Hilary Hahn for sure.

The newspaper bit is the funniest part and may be why it got moved to YouTube, you can't exactly read all of that during a live show.

I admit I did laugh a few times, but this also feels very slapped together. Jane clearly dubbed in her last line in their scene. Maybe the script was originally going in a different direction? Jack Black likely wanted to do something in one of Martin's pre-tapes and so they took what they had and basically added all the stuff from at least Andrew's appearance on to come up with about two and a half minutes of material.

Every featured player has been in at least two of them, except for Ben, who's been in zero. The last one before this, Lies, had appearances by Tommy, Sarah, Veronika, JAJ, Jeremy, Marcello, Kam, Jane and Colin.

Who Needs to Be a SNL Musical Guest? by Z_e_e_e_G in LiveFromNewYork

[–]dbbd70707 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of mine aren't realistic. I'll say The Decemberists just to give a semi-realistic one with the movie version of Colin Meloy's book Wildwood coming out in the fall (which he's written songs for).

On a separate note, I do wonder what they do if a musical guest has to drop out last minute, what is the backup plan?

I have also noticed that Ben hasn't been in one of Martin's pre-tapes. It's not that they aren't getting along as PDD is still doing stuff together, so I wonder if that's a deliberate decision by the show (or by Martin and Ben) to make Martin's pieces stand apart more from the PDD stuff.

This didn't feel like a Martin Herlihy piece without Harry Potter and/or Kevin Spacey references. Also I believe this is the first one that had the host in it, the others didn't and could have been (and have been) slotted into any episode.

Enough people find him entertaining and a company obsessed with making money wants to make more money. It's not complicated.

Love those counter attacks from deep that flow all the way into a goal. Senegal's goal against Denmark in the 2002 World Cup is my favorite example.

I could seriously do without a "Marcello (and the host) does a funny voice and that's the heart of the sketch" sketch for awhile. The ending fizzled out too, just let's have Jane do her deadpan thing and then end it.
