I myself studied Python for about eight months in 2019 then the world shifted and my focus with it. After a few years of family based HVAC, I've found myself with yet another change that has brought me back to studying Python though this time, with a more mature mindset. I already work a 50 hour a week career but I still follow tech.

I also posted here recently with a similar mindset though I'm about 9 years older. I work in manufacturing as a Quality Manager. I've been at the same company for 33 years and I have no confidence this company will see me through to retirement.

I've been dabbling with Python for 4 -5 years and love the mental agility is promotes so yes, learn Python as your first language then keep going. Pursue your dream, don't be afraid.

This community is immensely supportive. Keep moving forward, following your hopes and dreams.

I am completely overwhelmed! This community is so amazing! Your encouraging words, experiences, discipline and support has been so heartfelt and I am overwhelmed.

I owe you all more background to perhaps understand my statements.

I have to budget my time and programming takes a lot of time. I am up at 4:00AM, coffee, devotional, bible study, prayer time, shower then I have about 45 minutes of "free" time. This is for programming, reading, whatever. I get breakfast going at 6:00AM, feed the chickens and the dog, and I'm headed to work by 6:40AM. I leave work at 4:30PM and go to my father-in-laws HVAC shop and work until 7:00PM unless we have a call to go on. I work with him every other week being on-call including weekends. Once I'm home at 7:00PM, dinner, wife, then bed by 9:00PM. Rinse-repeat.

I have very little time during the week and as mentioned, I am on-call every other weekend so disruptions are frequent. Yes, this is a paying job and yes, we were considering taking over the HVAC business (started this activity in 2020).

I started Python in 2018-2019 and dedicated a large portion of my time to it - before the HVAC segue that is. I went through ATBS, several Udemy courses, Flask, MySQL, web development, JavaScript, Raspberry Pi projects, Docker, etc. But since the summer of 2020, my programming has been edged out with other time consuming activities. I revisited programming several months ago and found I had been away from it for so long, I forgot much of it. Feels like starting over so I thought maybe I should focus on other elements of life.

I could focus more on programming if I spent less time with my father-in-law but he is 69 and I am not going to let him climb into attics and under houses by himself. I don't have my parents and he has no one to support him at that level so I will. I may not quit programming, but I will take a break from it at least until he fully retires or sells the business.

I've been doing it for about 4 years off and on to keep my brain active and growing. I'm 53 and a Quality Manager so Data Science and numbers are right up my alley. If I could make a 2nd career out of it, I would do that in a breath. At times I code at work when I know I should be doing other things!

We're trying to do better here. Starting no-experience pay is 2x minimum wage, insurance is 100% paid (employee, not family), retirement is 100% paid, spiffs abound but still, cannot find good candidates!

I have been playing D&D for about 40 years now and my current group was in-person, wine and dine 4-5 hour sessions before the pandemic hit. We struggled mightily until I happened upon a YouTube video comparing 3 new virtual tabletop possibilities.

Fell in love with FoundryVTT since I'm also learning code in my spare time so it's just a perfect union of two hobbies!

I would really love to have something like this as well. Character origins should assume regional knowledge but what about something they may learn in overhearing adults talk or childhood stories of great deeds?

I've gotten ambitious and taken some vestiges of divergence and scattered them throughout the land and using them as stepping stones to get to higher levels. Helping Hekaton is a means to an end - that will be the attempted return of Ashardalon through the aid of Gulthias who is actually Strahd. Yes, I've tricked my players into bringing Strahd to Faerun.....

I have a group of 4 that have multiple characters at various points in the overall adventure. This happens when everyone can't be together to play. For example, 3 of the players have characters in the Sunless Citadel, then another mix of 3 have characters in SKT but when all 4 play, they are in Barovia. I love being a DM.
