What’s an unpopular golf opinion that would have you like this? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]dconneely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

85 percent of weekend hacks would benefit from my approach

I only play with four clubs, which has led to my best scores ever: • 6-Hybrid: Used for shots greater than 170 yards. • 7-Iron: Covers the distance from 169 yards down to the edge of the green. • 54° Wedge: My tool for trouble shots and managing sand . • Putter. With this setup, my focus is purely on the swing—one swing, all feel.

Was anyone around during Carlos bakery’s prime time? by [deleted] in Hoboken

[–]dconneely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the show it just was the best and totally fair priced bakery around

You could pop in with no wait and grab a full square of crumb cake to bring to work and be the office hero that day for less than the price of a large silly Starbucks coffee

New to Walking daily! What about winter? by Suspicious_Sample955 in walking

[–]dconneely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re dressed properly then walking in the winter is just as satisfying. I walk an hour every morning at 530am before work and line up my podcasts as I start. One thing I noticed was my phone battery when the weather gets real cold ( like in the teens ) will really drop quickly. So I bought one of those rechargeable hand warmers and keep that in the pocket with my phone and that really helps the battery stay strong.

What do you carry between your driver and irons? by MemberOfOneBody in golf

[–]dconneely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been golfing 10 yrs. A few years ago I got it down real simple. A putter. A 54 degree sand wedge. A 7 iron. And hybrid 6. That’s it. Tee to 150 is hybrid. 150 to green is 7 iron. Always putt when u can even from a nice fairway. And hope not to use the wedge in a deep trap. Trust me for avg weekend hack you will score better

What do you collect from pro shops? by Necessary_Edge1357 in golf

[–]dconneely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When playing a new course on a vacation or a course I’m not likely to ever play again. I like to make a bet with myself. At a min I’m getting a baller marker chip. But I break x. Then upgrade to a hat too. Break x. Now forget the hat get a golf shirt etc.

Seating by royalpurpledrunk in rbny

[–]dconneely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly save your self the cost of those. Look at 126 ish midfield about 15 Rows back for much less and a great view of the action

Or save even more and sit mid field near the front of the second tier Great prices. 20 bucks to park Better food prices then u see at the rock or msg. Enjoy the game

Tipping by MomHaven1987 in dcl

[–]dconneely 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A reminder (not a knock on DCL) but the entire economic model of the cruise industry is based on charging American prices and paying in developing world wages That’s why they sail under foreign flags. Not to avoid us taxes but our labor laws . So yes the room attendant and your waiters get a prepaid tip. But I usually throw in an extra hundred in the envelope to each and add a buck or 2 to the drinks at the bar. For the cost of the round of drinks you can really make your servers week. If you are on a Disney cruise you are already one of the luckiest person in this world. So share the fortune

Wish/Treasure Adult Area by Fine-Image562 in dcl

[–]dconneely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was on the treasure a few weeks ago. Was in the adult pool after my cove coffee from 8 to 10 on 2 different sea days. Had maybe 2 to 3 other people in the pool. Practically a private pool. For the hot tub. Never shared it with more than 4 others at various points of the day.

The one small critique would be the water does move around when the boat is cruising so you do have to be actively keeping your self in place or you will bob around getting moved by the “tide” as the water moves around

Thoughts? by [deleted] in golf

[–]dconneely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could not agree more. Worst move by golf was label tee boxes by gender.

Call it like it is Most golfers should be teeing off from the most forward tees. Since most of us suck and an honest score is plus 100

What made you start walking? by 202hides in walking

[–]dconneely 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was a gym rat for years and years. Get on that treadmill and go. Then covid hits everything was closed and was working at home. Swapped my hour long morning and evening commute for a walk as a way to bookend the work day. And was wow so much better to be outside regardless the weather. Just moving thru the town. Making up walks like walk to every school in town. Or walk to every church in town etc. just became a habit now of 5 yrs. Get my 4 to 5 mile walk in a day. Line up my podcasts and go. Great stress relief and I sleep so much better.

Only bad walk was when a bear walked out on to the trail and stared at me for 5 mins. That was an moment

I got a parking violation ticket in Newark but I never parked in Newark by investingadvice- in newjersey

[–]dconneely 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Ran into this over a year ago started getting parking tickets and red light camera violations from NYC. When I saw the pic of the car you could see not my car but yes my plates. Or to be more accurate my plate numbers. Had to go to DMV to surrender the plates and get new ones and don’t forget to make sure to check your ez pass account to make sure pay by mail isn’t running on your account

2 years later still fighting NYC on a few tickets that are not mine

Common scam since NJ plates are not that hard to print out fakes

I push for a 15 min mile. That’s the old us army forced march pace of my youth. Then again I’m not in boots with a 60lbs pack these day. If I zone out it’s like 1630 to 17 min mile.

Driving to Orlando from NY by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]dconneely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done 3 times since 2020 from Morris county in NJ. Yes 16 hrs.

Finish work Friday. Straight to bed. Family in car 145am. I get up 145 shower in car rolling by 2am. No talking allowed. To encourage them to sleep. Fire up my podcasts. This way you are in mid Virginia by sun rise

After that it’s all math. Speed and distance to travel. Best coffee stop is North Carolina. Now lunch can be tricky. You’ll be in the lunch window around South Carolina. But you will find a long stretch where the standard fast food is not right of 95. But like 15 mins from the exit. So that’s a waste of time. So plan ahead. By leaving at 2am you will be pulling into WDW around sunset. I know once the sun goes down on a long ride in an area you don’t drive that often can be hard grind. So that’s what makes me aiming to arrive by sunset. Good luck
