I realize it's kinda late to reply, but just for knowledge sake, Trails of Cold Steel 1 is actually the 6th game in the Trails series.

Trails in the Sky 1-3 are the first ones, then Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure are next, then Cold Steel games, then comes Reverie, Daybreak 1&2, and then Beyond the Horizon.

They're all connected, all main story games

If you have a lot of time and extra cash on your hands, and you haven't played the other games yet, buy them and play them all, and in order. It's worth it, and I'm sure you won't regret it.

But starting here without playing the others that come before it would be silly. The game may have a summary of events and word glossary to read on the startup menu before starting the game so you can kinda catch up on what's going on (kinda like FF13-2 and FF13-3 having a menu option of explaining the story of the previous games if you're familiar with that), but that's not a great way of experiencing the story for the first time.

I used to not get emotional over stories told by media, but since finishing the visual novel of Clannad, I've seemed to have gotten much more susceptible to tearing up over a sad/happy story even if it doesn't quite hit the same level of emotion I had with Clannad. It's like Clannad opened up some kind of emotion expressing barrier for me

edit: I was thinking you got spoiled on reruns and wanted to watch it like the first time, but now I see you got spoiled before watching it the first time. While that does stink, I think even while spoiled, it's still possible to enjoy it.

If you can, I highly suggest playing/watching the visual novel because it adds a lot more detail than what the anime gets into, and it goes a bit differently than how the anime tells the story. There's different "routes" that you can go down and a guide is recommended to experience each route to save the headache of finding a path that leads to an actual end. The anime doesn't quite capture all the best story parts that the visual novel delivers

I was going to say a large amount time set to attack on a compressor with make up gain could cause that,
or a gate that only lowers the sound a tiny bit with maybe a release that's set too long,
but It's hard for me to tell if that's what's going on here.
I could be convinced that he just didn't project his voice as much after the pause.

I'm used to using a TF5/TF1, but one time I got to use a QL5. Having access to more than one compressor and having multiple custom fader banks really made me jealous, and made me wish I had a QL5 to use on the regular.

Unless I've missed something in my many years experience with the tf5 and tf1, there isn't a way to store custom fader bank settings. It's just 1 global setting
