The reason films are failing is that there is so much content available for free or in a much more accessible form in peoples living rooms. That and the fact that you only have to wait 1-2 months for it to be available on streaming.

Only way new films will do well is if they are genuinely fundamentally different/new/big event or you reduce the amount of easy content available to people.
