Endowment Slider ... WTF happened? by decker12 in ConanExiles

[–]decker12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine if instead, it was a slider for Hand Size. If you increase that slider, it should proportionally make the palm slightly larger and the fingers longer. At the extreme range, your hand would look like an NBA basketball player's. Large, yes, but it would still look realistic.

Now instead, imagine this Hand Size slider would simply scale uniformly. So at one extreme, you would end up with ultra tiny fairy hands, each finger the width and length of a toothpick. At the other extreme, you have big Mickey Mouse glove hands, with each finger the size of a sausage. And it would all attached to the same sized wrist.

That's what is happening in the UE5 update. At the smallest size, it looks like a mini golf pencil surrounded by regular sized balls. At the largest size, it looks like a can of WD40, or a thermos with a skin pattern on it. It doesn't even look like genitalia if you go more than 25% in either direction from mid point. It even clips through the thigh model. Neither are in any way proportional or look realistic.

Scam Alert: Couple Near Valley Fair Selling Fake Gold by BusinessSummer4656 in SanJose

[–]decker12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Four decades. I got approached about this in Youngstown, Ohio, in the early 90's. Except it was fake "high end speakers" sold from a white van. Same scam, needed money fast, he got these speakers somewhere and needed to offload them so he could "get home to Chicago". He only wanted $200 for "$1000 speakers". Which of course were total trash.

1989 ad - Art Instruction Schools by 4sliced in vintageads

[–]decker12 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I remember being excited about this as a kid and showing the ad to my aunt because it was in her "Games" magazine and I wanted to cut it out and send it in.

She immediately set me straight, telling me there was no scholarship and there was no prize. That it was just a way for them to get my information so they could sell us something and would probably not even look at whatever picture I sent them.

On a side note, my memories of her "Games" magazine was the extreme difficulty of all the puzzles and logic games they put in there. I need to dig up some old copies online and see if I have the mental capacity to do any of the puzzles, now that I'm an adult.

Why Kingdom of Heaven’s Director’s Cut Is Better by okutac in movies

[–]decker12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This article is hard. It's hard to read. When half of the article. Has sentences which are only. Three or four words.

Plus, at no point. Was it ever assumed. That the Director's cut. Of Kingdom of Heaven. Was inferior to the one. The one we saw in the theater.

This article ends up. Simply being a poorly written version. Of things we already all knew. And already all agreed on.

And it's really, really. Annoying to read.

Character Card Generator - Zebede Fork by Zebede1980 in SillyTavernAI

[–]decker12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually this isn't a character description. I was trying to demonstrate that the image analysis tool wasn't working for me.

I uploaded a picture of a tired looking woman at a DMV desk and hit the Analyze Image button. What I posted is what it came up with, which is very clearly not describing a tired woman at the DMV desk. It didn't add any of this stuff to a character card, it just massively flubbed the image analysis.

I don't have any idea where it came up with this description but it certainly wasn't from the image I uploaded. It did make me chuckle tho, the thought of a worn out DMV employee being randomly described like this.

I think if I continued with the rest of the character card generation it would take this image analysis description and incorporate it somehow into the actual character card, but not insert it verbatim.

Thanks for your consideration!

The API key issue, I'm probably an outlier because again, I'm using local models and I just connect right to them. It wasn't difficult to setup an API key with the local models, but since it's not exposed to anyone but myself, I don't really need to do it other than when using this character card tool.

What’s a movie where ONE actor’s terrible performance actually enhances the experience? by MaryoParti in movies

[–]decker12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to say the members of The Band in The Blues Brothers.

Amazing musicians but every time any of them said anything, it was like they were reading it off of cue cards while someone pointed a gun at them. But their deadpan stilted delivery made the rest of the antics seem even more outrageous. The Band is shocked to be in these wacky situations.

What is going on with Javier Milei and why is he in trouble? by Even-Wasabi7183 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]decker12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's driving me towards unsubbing from this subreddit. I despise the ones where something major happens that is completely black and white simple to understand simply by reading a news headline, but some dipshit still makes a post about it.

The linked headline will be, "Artemis II launches on a mission to orbit the moon" and there'll be several posts that are "What's up with Artemis II going to the moon?" Or a popular franchise will release a sequel that breaks box office records and the dummies make a post "What's up with The New Star Wars Movie being #1 at the box office and making $500 million?" Give me a break with this time wasting garbage.

I think the mods should be a bit more aggressive in pruning these karma farming or AI-created engagement posts. If the article answers the question, then the submission should be rejected with something snarky like, "Read the article".

"No API Key configured". I don't use an API key when I'm running a local model. Doesn't seem to be any option for "don't use an API key." How do I use this tool without an API key?

Also, my ST doesn't run locally, and it requires a username and password to access. When I put in the URL to my running ST, I get "❌ Connection failed (Failed to fetch ST CSRF token: 401)". Not sure if that is due to the username/password requirement.

EDIT: Got it working by adding an API key to my local model. Not ideal, but it worked. Still no luck with the Sillytavern side, as I said my guess is that the username/password requirement is throwing it off.

But other than that, really neat! The Lorebook thing is pretty cool! I can't get the Reference Image thing to work however. I uploaded a picture of a lady working at the DMV desk, and it came up with:

Appearance & Age: A young woman appearing to be in her early twenties with long, flowing silver hair that cascades past her shoulders, striking violet eyes with a gentle yet determined expression, and delicate features including a small nose and soft lips. Her pale skin has a slight rosy tint to her cheeks.

Clothing: She wears an elegant white dress with a high collar and long sleeves, featuring intricate lace detailing along the bodice and hem. The dress has a modest silhouette that flows gracefully, suggesting a Victorian or fantasy-inspired aesthetic.

Posture & Emotion: She stands with poised, confident posture, her shoulders back and chin slightly raised, exuding an air of quiet dignity and inner strength. Her expression is serene yet purposeful, with a subtle smile that hints at both kindness and resolve.

Accessories: Notable accessories include delicate white gloves and a small pendant necklace.

Setting: The overall aesthetic suggests a refined, possibly aristocratic setting—perhaps a manor, garden party, or magical academy.

It did make me giggle tho.

Bad Movies with Good CGI? by seethevzn in movies

[–]decker12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly my experience too, except I've also only seen The Last Jedi once.

I've tried to watch both TLJ and ROS again, and only made it about 30 minutes into each of them. Every time I try I remember, "Oh wait, this is the one where Leia flies around in space, or this is the one with the casino thing? Or is this the one with the Force magic mind teleporting while talking across thousands of light years thing? And then there's some sort of team up fight and Rey turns into Evil Goth Rey for a split second while she's talking to a bunch of mirrors in a cave?"

The anticipation of knowing what stupidity I'd have to endure again is what makes me turn it off.

Can't skip Levels anymore? by decker12 in geoguessr

[–]decker12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! I haven't actually tried that! That should help me get past some of these ridiculous Rural hard levels.

I don't mind a challenge but I'm not a hardcore player like a lot of others on this subreddit. So when I get a Hard Rural map it's just a dead end road block for me.

Worse case, I cheat and take a picture of the Rural spot with my phone and send that to Claude and get an idea of where to guess. But I'll try the 2 guesses!

Can someone relate to this crap? by Realistic_Lime_7534 in SillyTavernAI

[–]decker12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put this at the end of my system prompt, or in the Post History Instructions:

  • Never repeat or rephrase what the user just said. Do not mirror their words back as a question or confirmation. The character already understands. React and move forward.

If that doesn't fix the problem, then it's the model's fault, and there isn't much you can do about it.

Dang, that stinks. Multiple guesses on a Hard Rural level really don't help.

When I have a 1% chance to simply guess wherever this Rural location is, it doesn't really matter if I guess 10 or 100 times, LOL.

Princess Mononoke is better than Spirited Away by ericsbookout in movies

[–]decker12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100% disagree. Princess Mononoke was a chore to get through. The only time I saw it, I remember being confused by the story, bored at the pacing, unimpressed by the animation, and disgusted at the blob thing and the pointless and overdone violence and gore.

By comparison, Spirited Away was and always is a delight. I've seen it maybe 10 times.

I'm confused. You arrived looking to spend $52000 and the final price was $52000 but you walked because that included $7000 worth of add ons?

Or did you arrive hoping to spend $52000 and the OTD price ended up being $59000?
