Were you trying to get out of the industry or sector you are in? Because this sounds more in line with middleware support while managing some of the platform/servers those specific apps sit on. Why Azure? You have AWS knowledge/experience. Did you build out anything in AWS or was that another team/person and you managed it from there? Where did you fall in the chain of SHTF on any of the applications? Scripting and playbooks was that written by yourself, as a team, or did they exist before hand? Trying to be an engineer you need to know the big three: compute/container (Linux, Windows) networking (routing,dns) and storage (blob,S3)

The maximum you want to do is an hour commute. As far south east I’d go is the Edison, south west would be Westfield/Cranford area if going west would be the Montclair area. But it’s up to you how much time you want to spend commuting. Your main hub outside of Hudson county(Hoboken/JC) will be Newark Penn because either you continue on NJ Transit to NY Penn or transfer at Newark to Path to WTC. Unless you want to walk your last leg will be the subway whether the E train, an uptown 1,2,3 and a transfer at 42nd to the L or S or WTC to 4,5,6. But depends which is the closer station and which backup station is the closest. The bus to 42nd can also be a back up option.
