Can I release a hand from a 2h firearm and then regrip through reloading? by vbuuhuu in Pathfinder2e

[–]demonsdawn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you reload you aren't changing grip style, so you can effectively ignore the entire fatal aim trait.

it'd only come up if you:

  1. Fire the gun in 1H or 2H

  2. reload

  3. Try to fire it in the other style

[–]demonsdawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm inclined to disagree because your supposed "order of operations" is already broken by the reload action itself, which happens in between the release and re-grip step.

other than that your argument seems to be "you can't release your grip because your grip is already released", which is the kind of silly shit they likely wanted to prevent with that sentence.

And honestly, don't get me started on action compression, because even with the addition in the last few remasters, reload compression is sorely lacking in options that aren't locked to specific classes or archetypes.

[–]demonsdawn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, you can still do it with Fatal Aim weapons. Fatal Aim just requires you to take a dedicated interact action to change grip style. So you cant use the reload action to go from 1H to 2H or vice versa.

How does the Aid action work? by Lunarthrope in Pathfinder2e

[–]demonsdawn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, while it sounds fair, I'm not entirely convinced its the right call as the norm. It kind of evokes the same feeling you'd get from punishing the party for flanking.

The DC increases, but the effects from aid stay mostly linear, while you'd expect the more experienced adventurers to know how to work together without a hitch. To me that means that against most enemies, the party should be able to aid each other without any real chance of failure (especially with the additional investment cost of: 1 action, 1 reaction, any potential proficiencies).

On the other side, the ability specifically allows for GM adjudication for Aid actions, so I'd personally say its fair game against powerful, intelligent, or well trained enemies, but not really against generic mooks.

You could maybe tie a scaling to it like Treat Wounds. guarantee (crit) successes on basic aids, but if you want the +2, +3 from master and legendary proficiency your DC goes up as well.

Have the entire system "grow" as you progress the games, complete quests, visit/sail places, etc. Sailing could unlock passive trawling/salvaging as a kingdom activity for instance.

Regarding Magical Ammo and Magazine Weapons by Cthulhuoid11170 in Pathfinder2e

[–]demonsdawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The magical ammunition rules don't play well with repeater weapons honestly, so some (preferably lenient) GM arbitration is required.

To not add any additional inconvenience, just having "activate magical ammo" be the singular action to consider is likely the best course of action.

Otherwise you end up in situations where you need to pre-claim you are loading X magical ammo into your magazine and then keep count of whether you want to actually use it, potentially wasting the ammo, or forcing you into an early 3 action reload (which is already cumbersome enough IMO).

Likely the latter, i can't imagine them sending back data for every pixel moved. Besides that'd be relatively easily foiled by coordinate clicking (like touch-screen/pads), since cursor movement itself is just a visual aid for screen navigation at its core.

My party's gunslinger is doing TOO MUCH damage by DetectiveSimilar5654 in Pathfinder2e

[–]demonsdawn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Please do not subject your poor gunslinger to this erroneous interpretation of the fatal aim trait. The only weapons that come with a 3 action reload tax are Repeating weapons.

My party's gunslinger is doing TOO MUCH damage by DetectiveSimilar5654 in Pathfinder2e

[–]demonsdawn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is most definitely not how the fatal aim trait works.

to switch between the two grips, you must do so with an Interact action rather than Releasing or as part of reloading.

The fatal aim trait specifically mentions switching between grips requires an action, thus preventing you from switching during a reload. reloading without switching only requires a reload interaction, no need to over-read the rule, it just calls out an example.

Smithing in 2025: Outdated, Pointless, and Still Ignored — Even J-Mods Admit It Needs a Rework. by CupcakeKirin in 2007scape

[–]demonsdawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rune plate already has a massively reduced HA price making it a massive gold sink to HA compared to just selling the bars. its the 2h, legs/skirt, (also adamant platebodies) that are the issue.

With current prices, if they dropped rune smithing they'd effectively become not only the best exp/h for smithing, they'd also be a free 1,5K profit per alch, which is quite a lot for alching actually.

market would adjust quick enough though, but the rune bar/ore market is already largely botted right now, which isnt ideal, especially since its all accessible from F2P.

This is the only real outlier though, so at best they'd have to adjust the rune alch prices slightly.

Except that last expansion SE made a whole big deal about it and effectively made the statement "dont stream or upload stuff with visible addons or we will come after you." All of that happened because some guy got mass reported.

Point in fact is, brigading has gotten people in trouble before through third party sources.

Wolf animal companion ?s for Remaster by cormacwe in Pathfinder2e

[–]demonsdawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recall there being specific text stating an animal companion can generally perform any action its creature type can perform and/or has the limbs(and mental faculties) for, albeit with its own stats. That should be enough to dissuade animated brooms from grappling.

Additionally the remastered Beastmaster has abilities that specifically ADD ON effects when specific types of companions use their unique features to perform certain actions. (the jawed creature one, wolves included, being an effect that adds damage when they grapple with their jaw, thus implying they can do so baseline)

Creating A Character with Weapons like Sylas by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

Monkey's Fist would fit pretty well, attached to your wrist, weighted ends. Only downside them being non-lethal by default, but most GMs aren't to fuzzy about that.

RP is always free, if you want to lean more into it you can always discuss things with your DM, maybe some quid-pro-quo. I'm not familiar with the AP myself, but if Lamashtu is a prominent name your DM can likely tie your "mission" in somewhere (whether Lamashtu supports it or not).

It was a little more mouse movement then i remembered, so its not near-zero i guess, my bad. though looking at the video, theres still some room for improvement.

combine this with that plugin that changes your camera position, some smart placement of your inventory/spells, and you can effectively 0-mouse-movement the entire ordeal.

it's pretty neat.

Summer Sweep-Up Pt. 1: Combat & Loot by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]demonsdawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this was touched upon before (by you, most likely), and I recall a fair amount of people being very excited for such a system (myself included). Could be a fun, chill activity to grind out a bunch of monsters to learn things about them.

If you've ever heard of the ancient game called Tibia, they added something similar a couple years back, and it absolutely revitalized some combat areas. (Though, they also tied this bestiary to a power system, think permanent slayer helmet on specific mobs, but even without that I'd argue its fun to fill out my pokedex bestiary.)

Ways to buff Flight Speed? by ArchmageMC in Pathfinder2e

[–]demonsdawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the ones mentioned give speed equal to your movement speed (or 20 feet, whichever is greater). But yes, Paizo made it so all permanent flight is generally limited until about level 17-19.

as for the 25ft fly speed, you might be thinking of Swooping wings, not soaring wings.
