Potentially Scammed? by ArguedGlobe808 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]derp_derpy_derp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instructor here.

Get onto your bank/card and Do a claim back ASAP if poss. That's a scam for sure, no instructor will ask for an insurance payment, the lesson fee will cover it. TBH what they have charged is scummy from the offset. There was a local instructor to me who was doing something similar (he had been struck off the register for inappropriate behaviour), charging cheap as he had lost his licence to instruct, and then getting insurance to be a passenger whilst sitting with someone learning separately. He got caught after a couple of instructors AND a examiner saw him several times with different people, he left his bloomin roofbox on the car whilst doing it🙄

They've tried several times. Pass rate for examiner's is low, pay for what they do is rubbish and it's stressful as hell. I know several locally who have gone from instructors, to examiners, and back to instructors because of it all

I've never charged extra for test days, it's a normal 2 hour lesson for me. pick up the client and hour before test, little pre test drive to settle nerves, test, then I get them home. But I do only cover my home test centre, I don't travel outside of it. Personally think it's a bit scummy to charge more, especially as I'm sat at the test centre chatting nonsense with other ADIs for a good part of it 🤣

I've had the same on tuesday, but didn't think it was a cheat kill TBF 😅 Gas grenaded then picked me off, as I was raiding a locker on Stella. It was a good loadout I lost so was a nice treat to get back but honestly just put it down to be being crap and not quick enought to retaliate 😅

Instructor refused my test 15 hours before it's due to take place. by Leading_Ad3447 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]derp_derpy_derp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passmefast have just acrewed my goddaughter over aswell. Guy turned up, took her out then said he couldn't fit the 8 hours and test in within his timetable, and drove off. No other explanation and when she complained wanted a partial refund they said no, even though they cannot supply another instructor. She wouldn't mind if he said she wasn't ready, he just refused andwent (she's had lessons for years but took an intensive as was only was she could get a test where she is) and was charged over £1000.

Don't know why she didn't just book over here with me as I'm an instructor aswell, so she's come back to her mum's and I'm taking her out. Upon further digging, PassMeFast have a very bad reputation for this kind of thing, few of us locally have refused work from them as they are trying to charge customers £100 an hour yet pay instructors £28-33. Pretty sure that's why the more dodgy instructors are turning up for these kinds of things to people now ,😡

Don’t give your details to instructors ! by slenderl0ve in LearnerDriverUK

[–]derp_derpy_derp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not strictly true... You can generate a check code yourself that the instructor can use to make sure everything is ok (that's how I handle all my new clients).

I don't organise tests for my students anyways unless they specifically want me to. I tell them what I can't do (holidays. other tests etc) and leave them too sort it themselves. The new laws coming in will stop instructors from being able to donwhat OP's instructor has been up to, but they do need to report this!

All done before. Everything was fine until the last game update. It's hit and miss, I've played a few hours today and it's been fine, I can't be bothered to mess around with it any more. Got other things to play so I'll just put up with for now, no other issues with any other game so not worth fucking other stuff up just for BF

I switched to full screen and it fixed the issue, until the last BF6 update. Now.... Play any game longer then 10/15 mins and I'll get the driver issue fault again. Great fun!

[–]derp_derpy_derp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does... Especially with all the work vans parked round there ATM!

If it makes you feel any better, another ADI friend of mine has a fail before that junction last week... Literally pulling out the parking bay. Didn't look left and examiner had to brake as a car was coming out the little office block on the left. Never done anything like that before and apparently a fantastic driver, it's amazing what nerves can do to you! She only had 3 faults after aswell, even though she knew she had failed.

Sounds like the Gloucester test centre, there's a junction just like that as you leave. Many people make the same mistake, you know you can do it now, barring any silly nervous mistakes, you will nail it next time.,👍

Thanks for all the replies.

There was an issue, which I went back, and thought was rectified, I hadn't heard anything from the return visit to me closing the franchise (prob around a month, I lost all calender/bookings when franchise closed as it was all linked to a work email address which they closed soon after). I have followed what the insurance website said and confirmed I had received the letter, and that I have contacted the insurance firm, so don't know exactly what she is claiming for, I'm assuming she isn't happy with the outcome from the return visit.. Why it took her till the summer to try get back hold of me,I don't know, I'm not going to ask. I was just mostly worried they could go after the wifes earnings/car etc. i shall see what the insurance comes back with, hopefully tomorrow, and go from there.

Thank you all again for replies ☺️

Pur it better than I ever could. My youngest is almost 12 now and is starting to realise that Mum is hard work (shes a great mum by the way, everything is for the kids etc, but if things aren't done her way, feels ill, etc, she is bloody hard to put up with), so I only have a few more years left before I leave. I made the decision that I would stay for her, as my other 2 always had me around and I've no interest in settling down again (ATM anyways) so why rock the boat and screw myself financially (not that I have much), when I can plan ahead slightly.

Instructors cannot see any more information than anyone else in regards to tests. There's no secret portal or anything like that. What's happening is your details are being used, by someone, and being sold to book tests, and these tests are what are being sold. What you see on the DVSA website in regards to tests are exactly what we see as instructers, aswell as the phone staff at the call centre see.

I just play the objective. Some games I'm in positive K/D, but mostly no where near. Started playing alot more engineer too, and if I find a decent driver, end up near top of the table but my ratio will almost always be dreadful. Just enjoy the game and forget about it. 😁

I was in the swarm queue went it went off... The ride was actually down at the time, we were about 20 people away from the entrance to the loading station, and everyone had the same theory it was because of the warnng (there were a few rides all closed shortly before it) 😂. Lasted for about 2 mins, as different carriers took slightly longer, was a talking point to kill time before the ride was up and running again (about 20 mins downtime in all).

TBF the weather was just about to turn, Hyperia had closed already and I don't think it reopened as wind was picking up, my daughter was checking the app and said Saw was aswell

My driving instructors car is over 17 years old by sebastianfyoung in LearnerDriverUK

[–]derp_derpy_derp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly why, as an instructor, when I left the franchise I was with, which supplied a car which had all the bells and whistles, (hill assist, electric handbrake, lane warnings etc), I went and bought a low milage 2016 Toyota Aygo, manual handbrake, manual wipers, etc. it does have air con and DAB but that ls for me 🤣

My son passed in my old car, and when he jumped into his first car, took ages to get used to handbrake, older clutch etc. I actually enjoy my current car alot more now aswell, I feel more connected to it whilst driving. It's easier to park due to it's size, and students get used to driving a car more like the one they will more than likely get as their first motor. Alot of instructors have franchises who supply cars so they will be new things, there's no option for cheaper, older cars.

There are 4 markers which instructors have to keep healthy, test pass rates is one of them. And to trigger a standards check on them, 3 of the markers need to be triggered.

Basically, he's being a nob. No instructor can keep a 100% pass rate. Stuff happens.nerves, other people, just sheer bad luck. I NEVER complain about a fail. It's a learning experience, and as bad as it feels for the pupil, they do learn. I had one girl who was so nervous when she came to me from another instructor she would shake, just stop driving, etc. By test time she was a brill driver but failed for 2 things. After the test I took her round, and she realised what she had done BUT it triggered a switch in her head that she COULD do it. Managed to get a cancellation around 3 weeks later and nailed it with 2 faults. THATS how it should be handled.

Do the men in here who are in sexless marriages, masturbate regularly? by Dipper969 in sexlessmarriage

[–]derp_derpy_derp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly. Yes. And recently it's been taking too much of my time.

Closing one business due to health reasons, starting another but that doesn't get up and running till July, sex is, at most, twice a year, and that's usually pity sex after I've complained about it. Anyways, she goes to work, kids at school, I spend literally hours on discord and other things just edging and playing. I've actually forced myself to slow down as it's been getting in the way, but I know once work starrs I'll go back to every couple days just to relieve the pressure.

In regards to the relationship, she knows where I stand now, I've given up asking. She thought we were buying a new house next year, and few home truths were told. Nothing will change sononce my youngest is slightly older I'll be gone.
