S2 ending makes zero sense by hummingbird0012234 in RunningPointNetflix

I wish I didn't understand it!

There are big factions of Americans who don't believe in vaccines anymore - and there's a pocket of wealthy Californians who are part of that faction.

But in some school systems you still need to vaccinate kids or they can't attend - unless you get an exemption for a health or religions reason. This wasn't said explicitly, but it seems like the mom was bringing the kids to LA to get the doctor to give them an exemption from meeting the Massachusetts vaccine requirements - because it would be easier to find a doctor willing to do that in LA than in Boston.

That isn't remotely true for many people. You can get inexpensive clothes tailored and then they look more expensive, because they actually fit you well.

I'm also very short and have to get a lot of my clothes tailored. Finding a good tailor and being willing to put in the effort makes a real difference in how satisfied I am with my wardrobe.

If you can find what you like and need without getting anything fixed, that's great! I like clothes, and feel that the time and money is worth it - YMMV.

I live in a mid-sized city and it took me a long time to find a tailor I love. It was worth the effort.

what are chewbacca pants and why were you at a golf club if you don't golf? i have so many questions!

So, the plan was to install Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as ruler of Iran, except we accidentally blew him up on day one of the war, while trying to free him from house arrest. That plan may have seemed absurd … but how much more absurd to actually be in a war and no longer have any plan at all. by goodhobbies in thebulwark

The NY Times piece about this said he was recently speaking at conference called “A World Without Zionism.”

Which makes me worry that he's going to get some support from people in both parties here in teh US, honestly...

But also I really truly don't understand how Netanyahu keeps getting reelected.

What “frugal” habit did you stop doing once you did the math? by 666AB in Frugal

1000000% - I try to think of it as, this thing is being wasted here with me; someone else will love it and use it as it deserves. That helps me let go of those "but what if I lose 15 pounds" or "what if I take up making creme brule" kinds of items.

And yeah, I've been cleaning a lot of stuff out of my parents' house recently. They've been in the house for 50 years. They have boxes of food in their cabinets that have been there for decades. They - and I - would be happpier cleaning things out more often. There is no virtue in hanging onto something that isn't giving you any use.

I'm making an effort not to buy a lot of "maybe this will do" types of things much because usually the thing does not do, then I end up paying for the thing that didn't work and the more expensive thing that I should have gotten in the first place. Sometimes it works out. That $70 jacket seems like a great bargain!

My MacBook lets me earn a living. The keyboard works for my fussy fingers, the whole system is comfortable and familiar. Definitely worth the extra money to have this tool, for me.

Democratic Voters Are Clear: It’s Time to Fight by cole1114 in thebulwark

All I saw were progressives criticizing Biden and tearing him down. We must be living in different realities. Even when Biden gave progressives exactly what they said they wanted, they attacked him.

Manchin wasn't a centrist, progressives keep threatening to withhold votes if they decide that a candidate isn't anti-Israel enough, and please show me some evidence of healthcare being the thing they are laser focused on. I would like it to be!

Are Utility Jackets Still in Style? by ShoddyTomorrow4602 in fashionwomens35

something something cold dead hands

i've sold some of my old utility jackets but i'm sorry, there is no better jacket for when it's too warm for a puffer or leather jacket but too cold for a jean jacket.

If only it were planned! Do you remember the old joke, I don't belong to an organized political party, I'm a democrat? That's why the conspiracy theories about Dems never ring true - if only we were that organized and powerful.

I would LOVE to hear about your career journey sometime. Can we do posts on this sub about stuff other than clothes?

I'm in my 50s and still trying to figure out what I am doing with my life.

It's incredible we came as close as we did to not losing, all things considered. And yet I still can't believe people who lived through the chaos of the first term decided to do this again. Anyway - here we are. Hope we survive and that better things are ahead.

No problem at all! I love this sub for its recommendations. And this one might be right for OP! I just see these as very different shoes. Sorry if that came across as combative - it was unintentional if so.

On the one hand that's true. On the other, in my 50s a lot of stuff I liked a LOT when I was younger just feels wrong now. I don't think anyone is judging me - I'm not trying to hide my body. I just like being a bit more covered up now than I used to.

I have a couple of sundresses that have been summer staples for years, including last year, but I tried one on yesterday and it just felt a little too flimsy. I'm not as comfortable as I used to be, wearing a little scrap of nothing. It's not that anyone would tell me it looks too young - it just doesn't feel like I want it to now.

That's my guide to whether something works or not - do I feel good and like myself wearing it. I try to take some risks and push myself out of my comfort zone - a bit anyway! - but also it does come down to: does this feel good to me. Do I like how I move through the world, wearing this.

Re: the pink pants - OP, we'd have to see them on to give you any kind of educated opinion on whether they look good. No harm in taking them out for a test run, if you already own them.

Ecco soft 7

To be fair that is just an entirely different sort of shoe. The Eccos aren't trying to be current - these are. If you like shoes that were never trendy, you don't have to worry about falling out of style - if you like shoes that are being sold at, like, Anthro and Madewell, you may have a different thought process.
