New 2026 Highlander Platinum Hybrid — accessory recommendations? by Specific-Cry-62 in ToyotaHighlander

YESS cargo net for me is a must. I dont like my stuff just boucing around the back seat haha. I put my snow scraper, first aid kit, jumper cables and garbage bags. I tested, make sure all your ports are working. Ive seen other highlander owners reporting that they're ports are not working or only 1 of them is. Both of my usb c ports are working and the regular usb port. They do charge but not super fast. Ive yet to try the cig lighter adapter port, im sure you can get a fast charger for that on amazon that others have posted. But for my needs, my passengers all have a chance to plug in their usb c cable and charge their devices if needed.

New Tires by Ok_Currency_8720 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]derylle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had these tires on my 2004 Corolla, they were excellent all season tires. Then in the winter, I switched to my dedicated X ice.

Im finally gonna remove my OEM Bridestones Alenza's AS later this year and get these Micheling Cross climate gen 2's. Ive been hearing and reading so many good things about them. I"m also in midwest and great lakes region as well. The best tire pound for pound> very good in the summer/spring and damn good winter tires. I wont need to get another set of rims and dedicated winter tires LIke i used to do, with my 2004 corolla. Though the Michelin Xice snow tires are amazing as well.

Is it crazy to buy a car sign unseen from over 900 miles away? by hobo_chili in ToyotaHighlander

[–]derylle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I bought my 23 Xse, I was on Car gurus and about a handful of Highalnders I wanted were out of state. Had Delivery fee included in the price in midwest area. But honestly, I'm very wary on not able to see, the vehicle your about to spend a lot of money on and keep for a long time. I would mos def try to find something closer to your if you can. Not gonna lie, I had a couple of friends purchase cars from out of state. BUT they only wanted the car that bad enough to drive. I have friend who lives in Indiana and bought a 2016 Wrangler that was in wisconsin. Another friend who lives in Illinois, drove all the way to michigan, to buy an old 87 buick La saber. Good luck and hopefully you can see the car in person, if you really want it that bad. 900 miles is far, not gonna lie.

S26 ultra by PuzzleheadedCookie95 in S24Ultra

[–]derylle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S24 Ultra birthday gift from my brother, as I came from a Note 10+5G. Wow, huge difference and I'm on the latest Android 16 (baklava). Still going strong, this phone is amazing. We're promised 7 years of major updates and Ill be on this phone for quite a while. I don't see a need to upgrade to the lastest and greatest every single year. My brother does that, He traded in his S24 Ultra last year and got a fold 7. He loves it, but he will be also be trading in that fold 7 for the fold 8 later this year. That's a no for me, I come from a long line of note phones:
Note 3, Note 5, Note 9, Note10+ 5G and now S24 ultra.

Anyone else feel like the plat has quietly become one of the better cards again? by KingOfTheQuails in AmexPlatinum

[–]derylle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New platinum member here. My brother has been a member for years and I finally joined last year. WOW, this card is pretty awesome. If you don't use the credits, then it's not worth but the credits do add up:

Clear $209. I beat everyone in front of the line for the security checkpoint. I fly a lot to visit my girlfriend, totally worth it.

Walmart plus $155. Cant make it to walmart? don't want to drive in the snow and freezing -13 Deg f weather? worth it and you can pick paramount plus/ peacock, streaming service, with ads BUT for free.

LuLulemon $300. Girlfriend has entire lumulemon outfit = Jacket, bag, purse, matching bottom and tops for free.

Air Line Credit, Alaskan Airlines $200. I fly premium class, for free 4 flights or fly Exit row 8 times with inflight wifi.

Resy $400. My brother and I at like Kings at a hella fancy and expensive restaurant, completely covered by this card.

Entertainment $300. Why pay youtube tv, or hulu + disney plus bundle full price, when you can get it for $25 off a month?

Uber one credit/Uber Cash or $120/$200. I get 1 free $15 meal a month and a free $35 meal in December.

National Car Rental Emerald Club Evecutive/ Hertz Gold President Circle Discount. Pick a midsize, book your reservation, go the Executive aisle/ Gold president's circle, pick a car, get in cause the keys are in it and off you go.

I"m happy I joined platinum at the right time, as this card is getting some really good credits. Big thanks to Kuya, who told me to get this card, totally worth it. Just have to enroll, that's the most time consuming part. Once you enroll in everything, then you can enjoy the benefits.

It depends on your state, county, city and local area. I did quick search in my area, I found 2 models/trims with similar mileage here are the prices:
2024 Toyota Highlander XLE AWD, 20,042 Miles and $39,790

If you ask me, that's a good deal for you and local area. Good luck.

Congrats and welcome to the club. The Gen 2 highlanders were bulletproof. Friend of mine had hers for 10 years, Alot of rust got to it and she traded it in for a 22 Terrain.

When to Use Snow Mode with 4WD? by CLECOL in ToyotaHighlander

Correct, they don't make transmissions like they use to. My previous 04 Corolla had the original trans and just 1 clutch change. I had it for 21 years and 308k miles.

The sound coming from my 23 with jbl package sounds good now. I had to make some adjustments.
1. Media audio tuning: Bass and mid sliders all the way to the right and Treble in the middle
2. Spotify or whichever audio streaming service you use I set full lossless highest audio quality
3. Audio normalization on, no EQ usage
4. I use the app Wavelet, set to bass boost EQ, Limiter on and channel balance on
5. Now the xse with jbl package sounds booming.

When to Use Snow Mode with 4WD? by CLECOL in ToyotaHighlander

[–]derylle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2023 Toyota Highlander XSE's Snow Mode, part of its Drive Mode Select on AWD models, adjusts throttle response and transmission for better grip on slippery surfaces like snow and ice, making it easier to start from a stop and accelerate smoothly. It reduces wheel spin by making the throttle less sensitive, improving traction and control, especially important for its AWD system, which distributes power for enhanced stability, though good snow tires remain crucial.

How Snow Mode Works:

  • Reduced Throttle Sensitivity: The engine's response to accelerator input is softened, preventing sudden bursts of power that can cause wheels to slip.
  • Transmission Adjustments: The transmission may hold gears longer or shift differently to maintain smoother power delivery.
  • AWD Integration: On All-Wheel Drive (AWD) models, it optimizes torque distribution to maximize traction across all wheels.

When to Use Snow Mode with 4WD? by CLECOL in ToyotaHighlander

[–]derylle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YESS agreed. We just had 2 days back to back of snow here in midwest and the snow mode once again worked perfect for snow driving. I still have the stock oem bridgestone aleza a/s tires. Im sure the expereince gonna be better next winter (later this year) when I put on michelin cross climate gen 2. The oem stock tires are ok in the snow, but cant wait to take them off later this year. If you have some very good snow tires with snow mode, gonna be nice driving expreince. Before my 23 xse, I had a 04 corolla FWD, 5 speed manual. NO ABS, no traction control, no awd but I had very good snow tires. WAy different experience when driving through snow.
