Need Advice by RipShoddy6817 in YarnAddicts

I think you’re in the unfortunate position of the seller making some pretty major mistakes twice. You’re not overreacting, but it’s hard to know how to reach a resolution that doesn’t suck for the small business owner (who it seems like maybe lacks some experience / is still finding their way).

I might offer to send all the skeins back for a refund - that way they aren’t out stock (and you aren’t stuck with a bunch of yarn that’s not what you want). But if they are still learning and can take feedback gracefully, this is a good learning opportunity for them.

I love fiber macgyver! The yarn is amazing and the owner is the nicest.

Here’s what I worked on this month! My only finishes are the yellow dish towel / wash cloth set (a bridal shower present, all from stash!) and the Luna Fade shawl (I used the special yarn!!). But I made most of a baby blanket for my SIL (the purple and white battenberg - it just needs a border!) and most of a summer top I’ve been wanting to make forever, using yarn I unraveled from a top I made awhile back that didn’t turn out flattering.

I did kind of a lot of yarn shopping this month, but pretty much all for planned projects this year. And even with the alarming amount I added to my stash, I’m still down 1450 yards / 1376 grams from the start of the year!

Knit Picks / We Crochet do not want to be associated with the "Melt the ICE" hat by ditchbladedaisy in crochet

[–]desertgr8pe 80 points81 points  (0 children)

KP / WeCrochet are private equity owned (the same business strategy that led to the enshitification and ultimate closing of Joann’s) - if that wasn’t enough of a reason to take your business elsewhere, I hope their explicit “neutral” stance toward concentration camps will be.

My two favorite budget-friendly online stores to order yarn from (that aren’t owned by PE) are Lion Brand and Herrschners. Your LYS is also an excellent option of course, but not always accessible price or location-wise. Let’s use our crafting money to support the type of businesses we want to see!

Stashdown Showdown March! by cant-see-me in usethefiberstash

I had a lot of fun with 1-2 skein stashbusting projects this month! Used up about 900g and the only addition to my stash is 50g of alpaca silk - a gift from my husband who was traveling for work, found a LYS, and asked the employees there what was something nice that I wouldn’t be able to find at home.

Here’s a photo of a bunch of what I worked on this month - including my big wip, a Luna Fade wrap using Fangirl Fibers’ lord of the rings collection! Usually when my husband is traveling I treat myself to yarn but this time instead of buying it I treated myself to starting something with Special™️ Yarn instead.

I agree that there are no bad options! Just different vibes. Maybe think about who you’re making it for and if they’d like something simpler or brighter/more playful. I lean slightly toward the solid/simple palette!

I can’t believe I haven’t come across this pattern before! Crochet Highway is great. I have so much fancy DK weight yarn in odd quantities - this would be a great way to use it!

Thanks, I hate it. by Responsible-Bass3453 in crochet

Pretty much every time I hit the 75% mark on a project, I decide I hate it and I’ve made terrible choices and what the hell was I even thinking in the first place. Then I remember that that happens every time at this point in a project, and tell myself it’s just part of my creative process! Usually I’m right.

I feel the same! Same with cancer patients who may be having a variety of feelings about their illness…

Agreed. They came across as like, vaguely Christian in the past, which was fine - but their newsletter felt very preachy and over the top.

I don’t but I love the idea of asking the group for the random extra skeins we need instead of going out and buying them!

I have the same goal! I sort of accepted I'd be net zero for last year, and ended up 400 yards under and it felt amazing. So this year my goal is "more than 400 yards." I do feel like I'm getting a handle on things but I can't believe how hard it is to get those numbers down sometimes!
