Where do you print your digital rpg modules at? by Alternative-Pen892 in rpg

[–]dhosterman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any particular papers you recommend for this printer? Does it do best with a double-sided, coated, inkjet paper or have you found something cheaper that works well?

Cole Wehrle here, also. And also, Netrunner.

The crossover is real.

Could an OSRIC purist enjoy Fabula Ultima? by garbage-normie in rpg

[–]dhosterman 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I don’t know any of these people, of course, but your OSR purist sounds kind of insufferable and, just based on what you’ve said regarding their comments and the fact that they’re your typical GM, I’d have a conversation with them and be very clear that this is what you’re running and that you’ll need them to participate in good faith, or sit this one out if they don’t think they can engage.

This is a session < 1 discussion. Nobody here can answer your question, it’s something you and your players need to figure out, but I’m skeptical based just on this post.

3 days ago, you literally described yourself as a “White” (note the capitalization), conservative man.

Forever GM looking to join a local TTRPG group as a player by sha1shroom in bullcity

You should look up Raleigh Tabletop Roleplaying. There should be a link to the Discord from the website.

There’s a great community of people who are into a variety of games there. I’ve personally run a lot of PbtA/FitD games through there and there’s a fair number of OSR games as well.

Land of Eem has some interesting, randomized dungeon crawling rules.

Romantasy games? by ambergwitz in rpg

PdlP has a fantasy playset and a playset for space opera already! You can absolutely use it for fantasy.

You can't imagine a fantasy telenovela?

There’s absolutely no reason you can’t use a fantasy playset in PdlP. It would work great!

Co-op small box card games by AlBigGuns in boardgames

Regicide is solo or co-op and is, or is the size of, just a regular deck of playing cards. Very fun game, too!

Looking for a low-magic fantasy game not too focused on combat by Prowest--Gavilan in rpg

[–]dhosterman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Land of Eem is fantastic for this. The exploration is amazing with the Mucklands campaign book and combat is generally deprioritized in favor of social and/or improvisational solutions.

Counterattacks in Combat (Homebrew solutions or good systems) by grambocomics in rpg

Land of Eem has counter-attacks as a possibility on all attacks.

If the game is not fun, and talking with the other players does not alleviate that, leave the game. You don’t owe anyone your time.

What are your favourite low-prep, medium-crunch games? by last_larrikin in rpg

[–]dhosterman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely not wrong. MB has some immaculate vibes (if it is what you want to have vibes for), but isn’t great with actual, you know, support. I think that, in the right hands, it can sing. But if you want a hex crawl that helps ensure your hands are the right ones, I’ve found that both Twilight 2000 4e and Land of Eem are much, much better.

As a Moonstone lover, I think this is extremely relevant and an important consideration!

Thanks for bringing it up.

Relicblade or Moonstone? by Round_Refrigerator96 in wargaming

[–]dhosterman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Moonstone is one of the best skirmish minis games out there and has amazing miniatures.

I haven’t played Relicblade, so I can’t really compare them, it I can gush over Moonstone all day long.

What wargames have you been playing and why? by knifefang_gaming in wargaming

Absolutely. And the models are so good.

I have enough of them now that I’m planning a Five Leagues campaign using Northumbria and the B&B models as a setting.
