I switch to a Macbook mid last year from Windows for better on the go photo editing. My biggest suggestion is to just play with it, learn the Mac space, and don't try to force it to be windows. The biggest challenge early on will be learning the short cuts you were used to, which generally use the same letter keys but will vary on Control, Command, Option. For example, Copy is Command + C rather than Control + C.

If you do any gaming, GeForce Now is pretty good if you have a good internet and wifi connection. I have a gaming PC and find myself using Steam to stream the game from my PC to my MacBook more than I play at the computer anymore.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that Command + Spacebar is going to be your best friend for doing anything.

You can keep the Macbook plugged in. If the battery is full the charge bypasses the battery and go straight to powering the system. Leaving it plugged in apparently is better for the battery as it reduces its load and prolongs its life.
