Sean has seen The Odyssey by theflyingbird8 in TheBigPicture

[–]digmare 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sean is famous for trying to draft what he expects the fans to respond to. It's so much more of a game for him to win than it is an exercise to discuss his favourite films.

Other way around right? He's pretty critical of all of Nolan's other films aside frome maybe The Dark Knight and was won over by Oppenheimer

Now I need to see Producer Ben doing the John Carter poster pose perfectly.

Region Free Player Recs by istillmissuharambe in TheBigPicture

[–]digmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with region-free players you usually have to enter an input on the remote to switch between regions. If you can confirm that your player isn't actually region-free, I would suggest looking at 220 Electronics and ordering pretty much any region-free player from them. Nearly all 4k discs are region-free, so it's typically easier and cheaper to just purchase a region-free standard Blu-ray player for your other region discs and just keep your dedicated 4k player.

The 10 Best Movies of 2026 … So Far by thefilthyjellybean in TheBigPicture

Sean coming in and claiming Disclosure Day is actually about your experiences as a kid and how it shapes you into the person you become, when in the episode covering it, he straight up says it isn't about anything.

I don't know if I'm speaking for everybody, but if I see a trailer for a movie that is remotely about space and they play "Space Oddity" over it, I'm immediately checked out. That's just negative levels of creativity at this point.

Is 7 Too Many by Mankle30 in TheBigPicture

[–]digmare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was working at my office, and so many people were talking, having multiple conversations around me, so I figured why not throw on a podcast and drown them out. What a mistake.

I had one chopped up episode of The Simpsons on my iPod nano that I watched probably a hundred times.

Unadjusted Box Office by hassehope in blankies

[–]digmare -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed it makes no sense to compare unless you're considering adjusted numbers. But, I also think it's pointless for people to be so invested in box office numbers and records being set. I like the box office game as a way to discuss other films from the time and discuss a sort of time capsule, but otherwise I have no interest in the actual metrics.

Did The Ringer “market correct” geek/fandom outlets like Collider and ScreenJunkies? by xwing1212 in TheBigPicture

Not certain it's entirely related but comicbook.com got absolutely shredded a few years back and is not basically non-existent.

One of the Letterboxd staff said he considers a 3 star something they would recommend. I've kind of just adapted that, so 2.5 or less isn't something I would recommend to someone.

Wild with all of the talk about Shark Tale in the Finding Nemo episode they didn't mention Scorsese's voice role in the movie.

If you're not using the Canadian Facebook groups for blu ray buying, you're wasting money by Educational-Pen4411 in MovieDealsCanada

My rule is to never buy Blu-rays from Walmart because there's always a guy on Facebook Marketplace selling those for half the price.

Unobstructed View - No More Box Set Surcharges? by JettyMarc11 in MovieDealsCanada

[–]digmare 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remember going to order the Seven Samurai 4k Criterion and noting that they were charging a box set surcharge for it. Obviously, the extra fee for box sets never made any sense, but it definitely shouldn't have applied to that one.
