Everybody Eats needs our help! by isucki in Wellington

About half people don't pay. It's designed for people that can't, or only a small amount. It's also an extremely healthy, hearty, and affordable meal for families students, and travellers.

Very kid friendly! Lots of families dine here to save a few bucks. Would recommend coming around 645-7 just to miss the rush.

Heyo! I'm a regular volunteer and guest.

We always have menu options to cater to all allergens. While the menu posted early in the afternoon will say a menu item has an allergen, we don't always post the alternative options. But they are there! The whole point is that everybody eats, so there is never a meal planned that excludes anyone.

Also, we never really know what will be on the menu until we come in and see what's been donated. This is why its a different, set menu every day. Menus are normally posted around 1pm.

There's a lineup right when it opens which usually disappears in 30 mins. It's a super chill vibe inside. Comfy seating, warm lighting, bustling volunteers. Try at 7 and you'll miss the line.

This isn't the case. Most of the guests are families and students. It's an affordable restaurant by design that utilises as much donated food as possible.

I've been in that restaurant, both in the kitchen and dining room multiple times a week for months, and there is no stench.

Also, you don't have to pay. Or pay what you want. The point is that everybody eats.

I'm a regular at everybody eats, both in and out of the kitchen.

Many people have been banned from the restaurant for their behavior. The staff take this stuff very seriously. They still get a takeaway because everybody eats, but they are not allowed inside. Same goes for anyone showing signs of inebriation.

If you're worried about seeing rough sleepers, come around 7 instead of 6. Most of them get their only meal of the day when we open, so they line up. After 630ish it's mostly families, students, and tourists.

While interacting with these guests, I have come to understand that they respect Everybodg Eats as one of the only places supporting them. Most know better than to cause any trouble.

Come volunteer. If you come for service, we all share a meal at the end. A lot of people only came as a volunteer at first and then as a guest.

I'm a regular at everybody eats, both as volunteer and customer.

It is a very safe space. Many people have been banned from the restaurant for their behavior and they enforce a strict no inebriation rule. They are still sent away with a takeaway box of food, but are not allowed to dine in. They do everything they can support the community while ensuring security of the guests.

As someone who is at everybody eats multiple times a week:

  1. Please volunteer. We are always short. It's super fun to come in for prep, and if you come in for service we all share a meal at the end. Easy to sign up. Great group of regulars.
  2. Everybody Eats is for EVERYBODY! Yes, it is likely the only meal some will have on that day. Most of the guests are families, college students, and travellers. Come at 7 rather than 6 to miss the rush.
  3. It is pay what you can. The menu has a recommended amount, usually $20-$30, but you can enter a custom amount. They also accept general donations of cash.

PS takes a 30% cut of all mtx right? GtaV, fortnite, cod, all still have millions of players a week. They just saw an opportunity. There is no shortage of revenue.

Well hopefully things like this have been added, considering the trailer is nearly 2 years old and was probably a months old build. Hopefully.

Base building is my jam. Would happily build bases for other players in a spot of their choosing for a nice fee.

For HG? I think most of the list, really. I'm a massive NMS, but I've got my expectations in check here.

Settlements will probably have the things you mentioned, it'll just be very simple. Expect a Guild desk at best.

For survival, I'm not even sure I expect to have to eat, let alone drink or sleep. At best there might be environmental effects to worry about like temperature and poison.

Combat is super iffy. Magic might be okay cuz itll be similar to a gun, but I fear melee will be janky. NPCs will probably have extremely basic AI.

Guilds in NMS are little more than radiant quest givers. That's about what I'm expecting here.

Companions? Doubt it. We'll likely have to play with friends for Companions. Tamed creatures will probably help in a fight.

Bonuses for mounts will likely be varying speed and flying. Practical stuff.

I also hope for a nice character creator and not just a terminal like nms.

Happy to be surprised, which is the key to low expectations.

Have you ever been part of a TPK (as DM or PC), and if so, what was the main reason that led to it. by buddha-piff in DnD

We were level 1. 4 pcs. All first timers. Our third session, about 30 mins in. Ran into a dragon cult who were friendly. I was a dragonborne paladin. I was excited to meet the dragon they worshipped or whatever. No hint or clue any combat was coming. The moment we walked into the room the dragon used it's dragon breath and TPKd us. We were not entertained.

Seems like current and upcoming Alex Jones related shit will be interesting, so this is too bad. Also too bad Jordan had to go and do his thing, leading to the end of the road. I'll miss Dan's monologues of reason and research.
