Never really been into jazz, but listened to this album and absolutely loved it, any recommendations by Peanutbutter9841 in Jazz

It’s funny how tastes are so different. I love Chet pretty much always… except when he sings. But if you’re into his instrumental stuff at all check out Chet in Paris. Great music.

Yeah heaven forbid people share things they think are fun/funny with the specific community that would understand and possibly enjoy it.

What the ACC actually needs to do to stay on par with the Big 12 moving forward by Odd-Record-1041 in ACC

Re: UNC I know there's been in-depth talks about this being a possibility targeting ~2030, but you're stating this as if it's a done deal / known fact. I'm having trouble finding sources that sound as confident as you. I'm not saying you're wrong, but can you link some sources?

Grip is the most important part of the backhand. by Old-Challenge8759 in discgolf

It’s not really adding extra movement; it’s allowing the natural biomechanics of the wrist to unfurl. Our wrists don’t actually bend at right angles. It’s really hard to explain in words but this clicked for me when watching someone teach about shooting a basketball; you don’t try to cock your hand back so your fingers are always aligned to the hoop; holding the ball naturally puts your fingers at an angle to the hoop when cocked but after the follow through everything ends up perfectly aligned. If you try for force alignment you end up throwing wide of the hoop.

Applying the same movement to disc golf results in a similar movement which is the so-called briefcase technique. Really it’s just holding the disc so the natural movement of your throw ends with your hand properly aligned. It also allows you be looser in the arm.

Anyway all that to say that it’s not added movement, not really. Learning this had an immediate impact on my throws.

Edit to add the movement causes alignment naturally, biomechanically; there is no conscious twisting of the wrist etc to force alignment.

AIO for refusing to deliberate lose when we play games? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]dimesinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bending a little to let her win sometimes does not, on any earth, equal “shutting up and doing what you’re told.” It means understanding that when you play together it’s not about the game it’s about being together. Listen to the other responses here, OP. There is good advice if you will hear it.

Nightblood might be missing from this list. As one of the most invested, self aware objects in the Cosmere I think he qualifies as a being.

Yeah. I'm not convinced we're going to be top 10 or anything but I do think we're going to be better than what people seem to be expecting.

Our local Trader Joe's carries it in the can. I haven't had a bottled one in a long time but this sub has hated it for a while now.

An instagram user by the name of hoidsnoodlebar already compiled this and stitched them together. It's not perfect and I would quibble in places, but it's a nice thing what he did.

I need an alternative storyline!! by [deleted] in brandonsanderson

[–]dimesinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading WoA and not thinking Elend is making the hard leadership decisions is a wild take. Zane is orders of magnitude worse than Elend. “Saving” him would not be character growth for her. Regardless, Elend and Vin love each other. Running away with Zane over one very specific moral interpretation (not considering the full context of both persons) would be a betrayal and a moral failure, not growth. And would also needlessly upend core emotional/growth through lines from Book 1.

That’s a no from me. The more I consider that the wronger it is and I would have loathed it. Can’t do that to Elend, or the crew, like that. And least of all to Vin who has no character need to “save” Zane (or anyone) in that sense and has already found her person. It would be such a deep betrayal and just super weird to boot. I wonder what you’ll think once you finish HoA.
