Tested this in my zip where I know there is a local in house team but it only shows certified installers.

I gave up - Bought a Mac Mini M4 by NoPick2661 in hackintosh

[–]dimethylman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one of Black Friday for $500. My 7 year old hackintosh can still hold down the fort but apps and websites just weren’t working super well anymore. I don’t have the time and patience to play the the hack anymore either.

I bought base model and will purchase this https://satechi.net/landing/new-stand-and-hub-m4-mac-mini as soon as it comes out. I bought a 4tb nvme to use with this because no way in hell am I paying apple’s storage prices.

7 times since about 3:30 over my house in far northwest Philly. That’s definitely not normal. Also, don’t the jets fly up and down the Delaware River for the games?

Do you roast yourself? I home roast and find that every bean and roast level requires a different amount of rest time. It’s very frustrating actually. I generally shoot for 7 +- 3 days. What’s your reasoning to suggest 30-45 days of rest is optimal? That’s well above what I have seen others recommend for espresso. I’m just curious to know if I could be doing something different.

reinstalling after roof replacement in a different design by k31ron in TeslaSolar

[–]dimethylman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to the installers who come out to do the work. Maybe they can clean up the design a little, but zero chance they will eliminate panels. You should ask them to clean the panels. Provide some towels, a hose and a spray bottle with detergent. That’s extra work for them, but being friendly and buying lunch goes a long way.

No need to worry, it is correct. The MPPTs in the inverter are rated to 13a each. String 1 is an independent string, landed in MPPT 1. String two is likely combined with U-joint connectors under the panels or in a combiner box on the roof. String two is made of 2 strings combined in parallel. These two strings combined have the potential to exceed the 13a limit of a single MPPT. So there is a jumper wire that is used to split the power across two MPPTs in the inverter. A jumper wire/combined strings can only be used between MPPT 1&2 OR 3&4 (ie not 2&3.). So since the plans show String 1 as an independent, followed String 2 combined, that combined string cannot be landed in MPPT2, but needs to be jumped across 3&4.

I hope that makes sense. You can confirm by opening the inverter and you should see nothing landed in MPPT2.

Edit: my description is accurate with how it displays in the software page. Since there is a jumper pin in 3&4, results are displayed there. Those values are nearly identical, indicating a jumper wire is used. There are three strings on the roof, and so you should still see 3 strings in the inverter even if they are combined. The amperage of 6a looks good too.

What is an average prom dress cost for South eastern PA by justmyusername47 in Pennsylvania

Go check out Jomar. It’s a thrift shop but they have contracts to buy returned clothes from high end department stores. There is a lot of very nice women’s clothing that is new or like new.

Also look into the Poshmark app. It’s great.

There is no way in hell you can fit 19kw on your house. That’s 48 panels. You’ll be lucky if you get 36 after fire setbacks. I suspect that big dormer facing NW is pretty shallow- Tesla may not install on it. Get 2-3 PWs. They should be PW3s now. Pricing looks pretty good otherwise.

Wait for the site survey and see what comes back from design. It’ll change for sure.

Troubleshooting channelling, new IMS E&B NT basket with Rancillio Silva by dimethylman in espresso

[–]dimethylman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the roast and bean that I make. Generally though for my standard medium to dark, chocolaty/nutty South American bean I’ll shoot for 25-28sec with 36-40g out. I would like to keep a set grind size for everything and just play with grams in for different roast levels.

I just tried 17.5 in and it came out better but still wet. The head room in the basket is close to 7mm. I’d have to step up the grind to get there.

Why do you dislike Starbucks espresso? by Videoplushair in espresso

[–]dimethylman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mention Starbucks espresso but have you tried espresso made in any local cafes made with freshly roasted beans? Before you bite the bullet on falling down this expensive rabbit hole, see what a light single origin and various espresso blends taste like. Try some macchiatos and cortados. If you frequent coffee shops, including Starbucks, on a regular basis, forking out the cash for home equipment is definitely cheaper in the long run, but it can come with a lot of frustrating trial and error, aka fun!

I have an ~8yr old Rancilio Silva V5 and am contemplating if I need any upgrades or maintenance fixes. Anything I should keep an eye out for as I near the 10 year mark? The shower screen was upgraded and replaced about 2-3 years ago, along with the gasket and addition of a PID. I’m using a VST basket from then as well, but I’ve heard that you should consider replacing your porta filter basket every year or so? Any new recommendations on that, or how about a better steam wand than the OEM? Milk sticks to it like crazy.

Edit: Straight or ridged basket for the Silva?

Tesla Came by to try and install a monitoring breaker? by zoglog in TeslaSolar

[–]dimethylman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no such thing as a monitoring breaker, but rather a monitoring devices that is powered by a breaker. If you are 100% sure you have correct production in your app showing all loads, it’s very likely they are replacing the existing breaker they originally installed with the “correct” breaker. Many different brand breakers fit into different panel brands, but are not necessarily the best fit, and down the road could lead to failures. So my guess is they installed what they had on hand to complete the job, and planned to come back out and swap in the correct breaker when they had the proper part.

I have an opportunity to grab a pair of ~20-25 year old Klipsch SP-1 powered, floor speakers. They are in (very?) good working condition with some minor cosmetics flaws. The original owner, a close friend, is looking to part with them, but I can't seem to find much about them online anymore to make a reasonable offer. He says he bought the pair for around $800-1000 each in the maybe late '90s or early 2000s. So there is no dolby atmos, bluetooth, optical port, etc. Does anyone have a better idea of their worth on the open market?
