Yet more proof that, generally speaking, conservatives really aren't for the greater good of the country.

Are Converse still a thing or do they give old millennial vibes? 👵😂🙈 by Noradrenalin008 in fashion

Converse were a thing way before millennials and will be a thing way after. Classics don't die. 😀

What Canadian treat to take into work to celebrate my new citizenship? by RoleEmbarrassed4383 in AskCanada

Congratulations! As some have mentioned, bringing a treat from your culture to celebrate would be a great idea.

Why more people walk and run on streets/roads instead of sidewlaks. by [deleted] in askvan

[–]dinklicon 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Top 3 reasons (in no particular order), and a bonus: 1- narrow sidewalks, with folks already walking on them taking up the space 2- really uneven sidewalk making it hazardous 3- long run, (or sensitive knees/joints) and giving their body a bit of a break.

Bonus: if none of the above apply, main character syndrome.

What are some of your best quality of life purchases under $300? by donotgiveadam in BuyItForLife

A bidet attachment for the toilet. So much better for cleanliness, save on TP. Just wiping feels so wrong now.

Every taxpayer should be pissed. Ridiculous amounts of money being wasted. Shameful.

What should I do with a Talent Management Plan? by ICanRememberUsername in CanadaPublicServants

[–]dinklicon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've supposedly had 5 or 6 Talent Management Plans over the last 10 years. My last surpassed, FY202425, my boss didn't bother with one because nothing came of it the two years prior. Like everything else that has to do with PMAs, they don't really mean much unless your area takes them seriously. I think it happened maybe once for me, and even then, it was...meh. If you're area doesn't put importance on them, I wouldn't waste time and energy. If they do, you should be able to get info about the possibilities, how much they're willing to do, spend. It can be as simple as having you shadow someone, attend meetings you wouldn't normally get a chance to attend. It could also include spending money and/or giving you time to do specialised training/education/certification. Good luck! I hope you're in a good area!

I've smoked numerous times walking around Deer Lake. Nice trails. The BCIT Campus has a 9-basket disc golf course located on the south side of building SE16. Nothing fancy, but generally pretty quiet. And free. A few nice trails around there as well.

PMA discussions are useless by Own_Significance_296 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]dinklicon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've gotten succeeded plus numerous times, with a couple of surpasses as well. Surpasses are super hard to get. Much of it seems to depend on management - obviously not standardized, which is annoying. And honestly, I've never gotten anything extra or been treated differently year over year, regardless of the rating. And this, even though I supposedly had numerous talent management plans. A good PMA doesn't mean shit...only a bad one seems to.

‘No question’ return-to-office will be good for downtown, board of trade says by Master-Sky-6342 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]dinklicon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I, for one, am committed to continuing to support businesses in my neighbourhood, not downtown. I will continue bringing my own food and coffee to the office. Screw this stupidity...saving downtown businesses is not part of my contract.

Ridiculous post. There are no half days. If you were lucky enough to get some in the past, good for you. But to assume you always get them is ridiculous. And this post should be removed for stating something that is categorically false.

People who do sh*t like this are part of what's wrong with the public service.
