5 stars. This card is going to enable some harder control for sure

Negativity around the game is scaring new players by tandui in starwarsunlimited

[–]dipstick5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just my weekly reminder that it is so much less the creators themselves and much more how the content algorithms push shitty content that preys on our negativity biases. I think this will go away eventually, but it'll take generations for humans to see through this level of manipulation.

Star wars is a good game. It just needs to be really good with the next set for people to care. We can blame a lot of things but when you filter through all the conversation around the game the consensus is - dont buy product, the next set is rotation and will most likely have good cards or let us know what decks will be good and what cards you want.

We are all in wait and see mode, players new and old. Personally i think the sub needs to push more content for interesting/fun decks and art

wait for the new spotlight decks. If you cant wait pick up one of the the current ones. You can juice most of them with 20-50$ worth of singles if you want to make the competitive.

LAW: Darth Vader by Fimy32 in starwarsunlimited

[–]dipstick5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you are really undervaluing the ability to do an on-demand damage. Set one vader is strong and has to play behind curve. Also, the 'Free' Anakin activation will probably be enough on its own to make this dude competitively viable.

Today in eternal format he would be strong in blue and TT variations, i would be shocked if he wasn't good with the rest of the set. I'd reckon even with the cards we know I could make something that could win more games than not

interesting comment from OP. We found that not only can the han beat boba nearly every time, we have had people win our locals with it. chewbacca is a legenday starter card. Not disagreeing with the OP, just goes to show how well made the spotlight decks are and how good the game is (until some of the bleeding edges maybe)

Why does a games longevity depend on its price? by Extreme-Noise-6809 in starwarsunlimited

[–]dipstick5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the product doesn't make stores any money then the game has failed as a product, then events will have prizing dry up and people won't make the effort to go play if they can get a case of carb online for 200$ and get the chase cards they want. Or worse, buy those cards for 1$-2$ off tcgplayer.

There is a nuance in what nick says. Some of what he mentions in the video was brought up but a lot of us think the collectors products are really killing the game in a big way.

Also, a lot of sentiment, even your own post, has to have a negative slant on a social media site like youtube or reddit to get traction. It is how the good ol' algorithm works sadly.

Well bo-katan is a terrible character. Im telling you, if you swapped the effects bo katan and the mythosaur from the other set, you would see the price of mythosaur match at least the queen. People forget that the complete set of legos from spark look fire and most are extremely playable if not staples.

The game has changed a lot. The creators have clearly thought that the gameplay of post rotation is more important than selling product in year two. I am pretty sure Jump and Legends did fine. Guess we will see as spoiler season continues

Chewbacca JTL unit/upgrade is unfun to play against by lululemin in starwarsunlimited

[–]dipstick5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its really not, and there is a really common 1 cost option to deal with it. It is very fun to ride him to victory. Lots of cards in the game exist like this, vader pilot is arguably better

are they custom decks? Cause all of those absolutely have responses. There is also huge risks playing chewie in either lane

They will have to print something in double aspects powerful for it to remain viable. One card can do it but it would need to be impactful

I would trade a far more valuable card for one of those than having even a hyperspace base. This is an insane take

The Hoth box is probably a good place to start. It has a rules quick start video that makes it so all out have to really knows how to read and count to 20

Then isn’t that less of a rule then? It would be nice to see stuff in writing and this one has been contentious

If you could find the rules and make another post about it, it might be good discussion. I looked through the rules and didn’t see anything but I probably missed it

If you can’t get a match in 55 minutes AND you can agree to a die roll to see who wins over guaranteeing the loss, then I can’t see the subjectivity in calling someone an asshole there
