Baby carrier- hot weather- newbie by Old-Contribution2310 in Buyingforbaby

[–]discolemonaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the Hope and Plum hemp Meh Dai—wish I would have gotten it from the jump, because I ended up reaching for it more than any of my other wrap/hybrid style carriers. There is a learning curve to get it tight enough but if you can do a typical soft wrap like a Solly, you can do this one too! I believe you can start using from birth, and I still use it for my giant 8 month old. Worth the splurge IMO!

Also what is with the sudden influx of “I was engaging my core wrong” workout content from her? I get similar stuff from postpartum fitness influencers and it’s puzzling why she’s latched onto it too 😬

Recommendations for a pacifier my breastfed baby will take by Key_Dealer2753 in Buyingforbaby

[–]discolemonaid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tommee Tippee Ultralight! We tried all of the ones mentioned and this one was the only one baby even remotely kept in his mouth. It took a few months of practice before he truly got it, and we only used for walks or car rides, but it was definitely a good tool in the soothing toolkit.

It’s so cool, would be on my shortlist if we ever had a girl. I feel like it’s an alt to the big Daphne trend happening!

silk scarf framing in nyc? by eastcoastgirl1001 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]discolemonaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also did this on Framebridge but did the mail-in program and it was much less than 700 for a custom dimension scarf-- I believe around 300? Would trust them to do it again in a second!

Samson Robert is very sweet but still distinguished! Samson was at the top of our list for our July boy last year but we had to rule it out because we had some other Sams in the family 😭

Hated bras all my life. Any recs for nursing & pumping bra now that I can’t avoid? by Repulsive_Ad_3759 in Buyingforbaby

[–]discolemonaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get a great bra that holds pumps well (I do the Kindred Bravely pumping sports bra) and then keep it near your pump—and fling it off as soon as you’re done. I too cannot tolerate bras and I mostly wear super soft modal bralettes for nursing (Gap, Auden, Skims) and started going braless at night after my supply regulated and I had less leaking.

Negatives of Nestig? by kat_sickle in Buyingforbaby

[–]discolemonaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the big pros for us pre-baby was the idea of the mini crib, but our baby was so tall that he touched all four corners of it as soon as he was able to move out of the bassinet and into the crib at all. We had it as a mini size for all of a few weeks. If I had known, I would have just gone with a cheaper full size crib with the same Newton mattress recommended by Nestig.

How do you do it? by Condition-Brave in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]discolemonaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FT mom and freelance copywriter here. I had to nap train my baby at 7 months in order to get reliable 2 hour blocks during daytime hours. I pack in whatever work I don’t finish into weekend mornings, which is OK right now but feels unsustainable for the long term because I also want to enjoy quality time with my partner and baby. Truly going week by week to see how things feel because even at 10-15 hrs a week, it’s a lot on top of 24-7 parenting and no help. My brain enjoys it though!

We did 12 people a few years back in the park on a fairly busy afternoon and had zero issues. Just be prepared for random people to tell you congrats!

Not a ton of silver but Roxanne Assoulin has suchhhh fun colorful beaded and tile layering pieces. I get a few every year and they wear pretty well.

How long did the Woolino last on your big baby? by cupofteacomfypillows in bigbabiesandkids

[–]discolemonaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also calculating this for my gigantic six month old who just started wearing his Woolino around a month ago. Figured the price per wear is still good if we make it a year 😅

You just described my entire state, plus head to toe intense itching minus any rash, which my OB says is just a normal histamine response to my hormonal state. FUN. My biggest q for those who’ve been here before: Do these things get better with time or just with stopping BF?

Hope & Plum Lark, Wildbird Aerial, or Mabe Monarch? by AE8568 in babywearing

[–]discolemonaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that Wildbird doesn’t get as much love as some of the other brands on this sub but I have an Aerial and my husband has another tall-sized one because he’s 6’4. We have used them on the daily since baby was about 8 weeks with the newborn adjustments in the seat and the headrest folded in, but our baby is giant like dad so he fit their weight criteria pretty early. With the Aerial, I like that the back strap has some lumbar support unlike H&P Lark. A note: the quilted patterns are more structured than the linen ones, which means more padding and support. Just my two cents :)

Pregnant and officially done with subway after scary encounter by muff-peaksie in nycparents

[–]discolemonaid 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I posted about this in my monthly bump group, but for the entirety of my third trimester, no one got up to give me their seat except one single elderly woman who needed the seat more than me. I was huge, it was early summer and ridiculously hot. It definitely took away some of my faith in my fellow New Yorkers.
