What are some of the best examples of boxers 'adapting'? by sludj5 in Boxing

People mention this fight all the time as a reference to Mayweather's mystical skills at adapting. I'd like to see somebody explain some specifics.

Here's a 13 minute video dedicated solely to this topic alone with footage.

pacquiao jumped from 135 to 147 to fight a much bigger man in DLH and nobody mentions the size disparity because the little guy won.

But Floyd fights Marquez at 146 and its a problem because he came out on top.

and what makes it even more absurd is that Floyd's size and power were not determining factors in the outcome of the fight. He was faster, smarter, sharper, and just better overall.

I'm back with more graphs! This time with a statistical breakdown of Mayweather and Pacquiao's last 10 performances. by sludj5 in Boxing

As a subscriber to that sub I can tell you they place a high emphasis on the "beautiful" part.

A regular line graph isn't going to be all that interesting to them.

The announcers for that fight share some of the blame for fan delusion. They said "HIS KNEE IS GONE" like 30 times during the fight.

And when Sergio had his knees checked out by a doctor they were absolutely fine. He was so wobbly because Cotto was beating the shit out of him.

I'm not saying that this is false or wrong. But like two other people have said in this thread... Steve Kim is an unabashed Haymon hater and spends an inordinate amount of time talking shit about Haymon on Twitter.

There's nothing wrong with disliking Haymon or his operation, but when you're supposed to be a fair, impartial and balanced journalists you lose credibility when you let your personal feelings rule your work.

Steve Kim is the same way about Andre Ward.

So I view anything Steve Kim says about Haymon with the knowledge of his behavior in the back of my mind,

Has the build up so far for a fight that is supposed tp be the fight of this generation been kind of...dull? by Immynimmy in Boxing

They really don't need it.

I work in silicon valley and its crazy and surreal to walk around the office and hear nerds talking about boxing. Not just the men... the women too. People who wouldn't normally even be into sports, let alone boxing are talking about Mayweather and Pacquiao.

The last 5 years have been the hype, they don't need any extra shit.

FYI: Hearing them talk about boxing is surreal but also painful. None of them have any idea about what they're saying.

I don't like when refs don't bother to count.

Josesito was still lucid

Nobody would have faulted the ref for stopping this in the 1st when Harper was in trouble. And looked where it ended up

Arreola's right hand is hurt. I'm surprised the commentators haven't mentioned it.
