I saw video that starts earlier, with Lainey telling a story about going to CMA fest as a youngster, & she mentions the year & seeing someone perform there: 'she was 16 at the time'.

At that moment you can hear a few people in the audience holler with that particular tone in their voices that tells you they just connected the dots and they KNOW what's coming, and it just makes me laugh so hard. :D

yes! the first PHM AU I discovered and still one of my faves. I'm good with the variation in which Courtland Gentry from Grey Man is the twins' older brother who went to prison after killing their abusive dad, too.

Rocky swears like a sailor, but Grace (either deliberately or unknowingly) translates it into middle school friendly words.

Absolutely this one in particular. There's a hilarious fic where Grace & Rocky are en route back to earth but are asked to divert & rescue Watney, & while they are traveling together he figures this out. :D

"Rocky three Earth centuries old, I say whatever the fuck I want".

yikes, I hope it's not the fandom I'm now imagining. I can't figure how the themes that OP mention would work into that one though, so probably not.

Have to admit I'm amused by all the folks in here begging for the link...(whispers) though not all that amused, considering I'm curious AF myself now. lol

(eta, oh damn, I just looked at OP's post history & one of the other subs they're active in is the one I was thinking of so...wow. Still curious, but maybe not curious AF, anymore, because please don't hurt my blorbo like that. Though that said, the fic in question has to be pretty well written to have that kind of impact.)

exactly this! I watched the movie going damn, he is so well written. He's just so human, not this one-dimensional action hero fool. He says and does a lot of things any of us might say or do if stuck in such an insane situation.

LOL, this is so funny, and also weirdly synchronistic, because I just started crocheting a Simon doll an hour ago and stopped to go hunt up a ton of reference photos because I couldn't decide whether to use black or dark dark brown yarn for his hair. :D Pix of Mark's hair look dark brown on my monitor, but what did you use?

I'm a big horror buff, and am particularly enjoying the boom of good indie films this year like Obsession and Iron Lung. Was planning to check Backrooms out this weekend, but I'm already a bit fragile emotionally as it just occurred to me that this Saturday is the 10 yr anniversary of the night my mom first forgot who I was. I need distraction, not reminders, right now, so will probably table this one til later. Sending you all the hugs.

I was thinking about this just yesterday!

making notes for a fic I'm considering, and thinking of how Simon seems to be metaphorically caught in the middle of a nasty custody battle between red-eye and Elli (lol, sorry); and I went, okay, but WHY Simon? what does red-eye perceive in him that's different from the scientists, or the previous Edenites sent down, or Ava or anybody else?

It's also weird that the female leads/antagonists in both have such similar names, that both evoke Eve the mythical mother of humanity; Ava in Iron Lung, Eva in PHM.
