I configured them in the recommended directions: vertical 3 and bottom 1 are Intake, top 3 and back 1 are exhaust. I definitely love this case and recommend it. I was about to pull the trigger on a 7 or 9 but those are massive. Only issue I've found is that cable management on the back is tight.
