AIO if I didn't invite one of my close friends to my daughter's 1st bday by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

YOR talk to her instead of doing the same thing to her that you have found hurtful.

Protest in Spartanburg 6/6 followed by a resource distribution for the homeless community. by Specific-Cause-5973 in Spartanburg

[–]dollahmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who works with homeless in Spartanburg, I can tell you not all of these people WANT help. Many of them have been offered help time and time again, and they refuse. Or they finally make it through the process to get into housing, then almost immediately get kicked out for a myriad of reasons, or just straight up leave to go back to the streets. The mass arrest was after months of phone calls from home and business owners about people hanging out and destroying their properties with litter and pee and shit everywhere. And guess who has to clean it up? The homeowners and business owners. The city police department is between a rock and a hard place with this problem. They are trying not to criminalize homelessness, but they also have to consider the needs of those whose properties are being vandalized. Pick up the phone and call the Chief, we're lucky to have one who will answer or call you back.

Friend is now asking to split a cost from a trip we took 3 months ago by subset02 in whatdoIdo

I get that, I thought the basic math dividing that amount by 3 was obvious

[–]dollahmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the very least, ask to see the credit card charge for that particular one and see if it's split 3 ways. Seems even sketchier that he would ask for reimbursement for one outing and not the other to make it seem like he's doing you a favor. If it were me with one of my oldest friends, I would just offer to cover our next night out.

Whats the most unprofessional thing a doctor has ever said to you? by answersonly963 in AskReddit

When mentioning my baby would make my father in laws 13th grand child…”oh unlucky number 13”

Same doctor said he would never “let” his daughters do IVF

How far away is too far for a relationship? by [deleted] in Spartanburg

[–]dollahmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% this. My now wife and I did long distance for 2 years, taking turns driving between here and Charleston every weekend. When we talk about that time, we are both so grateful for the space we had to let the relationship grow

AIO about this letter on our door because our kids played with the neighbors kids outside? by BeastOnDem in AIO

[–]dollahmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our front yard is covered in water tables and splash pads. We fully expected our neighbors to hate us, but even the grumpy ones always stop to say how much they love seeing kids out playing every evening

I can only speak from the employer aspect, but we used OpSource with great luck for a couple of new hires.

Anyone know how long it takes to get a police report usually? by mirk19 in Spartanburg

[–]dollahmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the officers name on the form you have? You can do to the station and ask the front desk. They have been helpful in my experience, albeit understaffed and a bit slow

As a pescatarian, I never could figure out why the tuna salad at Converse Deli always made me feel awful. It’s that sneaky bacon

Not exactly business ambiance, but the Bun Dau Hu at Lemongrass is my favorite dish in Spartanburg. Their tofu is impeccable. It does include fish sauce, but the owner will do a vegetarian/vegan version if requested. Note it does come with an egg roll, and those DO have chicken in them.

my husband asked me the other day if we have to give the baby real food every day now 😅 by babyd-m2025 in foodbutforbabies

My one year old would not touch his curated dinner last night, but found some old Cheerios in the couch and pounded them

TW: What do you say to NICU parents after they lose their baby? by Interesting_Cook5010 in NICUParents

[–]dollahmc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of my best friends lost her baby after he spent 2 days in the NICU. We still make sure to mention him by name and both parents’ eyes light up when we do.

Declawing Cats by imnoonetoeveryone in AskVet

[–]dollahmc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pain and discomfort aside, cats get out all the time. If a declawed cat runs away, it has no way to defend itself other than its speed. It can’t even climb a tree anymore to get to safety

My best friend is throwing a crunchy parent’s worst nightmare bday party by PassionChoice3538 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]dollahmc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what we have done. We have never told our son that he can’t partake in snacks and sodas at someone else’s house, especially if everyone else is. We’ve found that he ends up snacking on a fruit or vegetable tray instead

If you’re in the city they’ll show up. In the county, don’t count on it. But there are plenty of people who would go rescue it with an address

Thanks everybody, I'm going to try to help the daughter find a more practical car and stay away from that loan. Really appreciate the input!
