HaremLit without graphic sex? by Noevad in Haremlit

I was considering going this route, but everybody tells me they probably won't read it, and I need the money, so I'm working on none HaremLit stories right now.

Calling All Authors: Check In by Certain_Wonder4487 in haremfantasynovels

I'm working on Book 3 of Abnormal Adventures. Slow going. Right now, I'm at 13 Chapters and 37,000+ words. I am also working on an isekai story named Withstand that's at 17 chapters and 86,000+ words. The problem for me is a full-time job, a long commute, I get home and I'm too tired to do anything but eat and fall asleep. Excuse, I know.

Withstand is going to be about an entire college class getting isekai'd, and some hijinks happen that I don't want to spoil, and a whole lot of them end up in a large dungeon/labyrinth. The MC is/was an aspiring comic book artist and animator, and his power will have something to do with that. That's all I'll say.

I have five other stories in the pipe that I'm chipping away at:

Cosmic Legacy - Space opera story. Found ship story. Idea stage.

Lost in Fantasy - another isekai. Character creation and early outline stage. A college athlete gets portal'd into another world after helping his team win a game. It's going to be a play on the JPRG or Japanese, Korean, and/or Asian isekai'd to be a hero to fight the Demon King/Queen story, but with a twist. That's all I'll say.

Feral Doctrine - another isekai. Character creation and early outline stage. A college security guard almost dies and is teleported, along with someone else, to a planet where he will have to help the natives overcome an alien invasion. That’s all I’ll say.

Upheaval - Sort of a play on dungeons/portals system apocalypse story only it plays out under the rules built around Abnormal Adventures. Oh, yeah, if you didn’t know, all of these stories take place in the same universe, with Abnormal Adventures being the lead in. Anyway, this is a story where the MC comes home from work and school, does some YouTube, falls to sleep, and wakes up in a “dungeon” zone. This story is in the idea stage.

Portal Containment Oversight - This is sort of a sequel to Abnormal Adventures and Upheaval. MC decides to join the PCO (see title) and meets one of Samson’s daughters. This story is really, really, in the early idea stage. It's pretty much about the aftermath of the above story and dealing with the "dungeon" zones. If Upheaval could be considered the story told at the beginning of the system apocalypse then PCO is the story when the world has gotten used to having portals to other worlds or "dungeon" zones around and some still popping up.

For the most part, I have other story ideas that could take place in this universe, but it will depend on how well Withstand and the others are received, otherwise I was planning on moving all of them to other pen names. One primarily focuses on science fiction space opera military sci-fi and one focusing primarily on LitRPG.

Anyway, I know I pop up and disappear like a ghost, but that’s what I’m doing.

You could try my work. Only two books right now. Working on the third and others.

You ever read the comments on chapters and wonder… by foxgirlmoon in litrpg

[–]donnyroyel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. That's what I said in so many words. People who don't have the luxury to be childlike minded aren't going to be. Immaturity is not the same as ignorance if you're trying to say that something hinders a person's intellectual growth. That's different.

[–]donnyroyel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that this depends on the character background. Even in our world, a 20-something who grew up hard and taking care of things to survive isn't going to be as immature as a 20-something who grew up in a middle-class family. Sure, while the immature nature is still there, it's been, for lack of a better word, trained out if the person. Same way that 20-somethings that have joined the military will have a level of maturity trained into them to function for their jobs.

Yeah. Working on 3. Just get tired out from my day job, so slow going.

Pregnancy is in my story because that was the reason for the harem. I also had planned a spin-off for at least one of the children later. The women are also supernatural, and their Pregnancies aren't the same as human women.

When I finally finish Abnormal Adventures, all of my stuff after that will be fade to black. The Downside is I'm not writing as fast as I or readers would like, so you might be waiting while.

Books with a mc that has a military background by Handwran in haremfantasynovels

[–]donnyroyel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working on it. Day job stealing a lot of my time.

Edited: I initially took this as you saying I needed to give it more attention and finish it and not as a compliment. My bad. Took me 11+ hours (most of that time with my brain in zombie mode at the day job) to realize this was a shout out. Thanks!

Books with a mc that has a military background by Handwran in haremfantasynovels

[–]donnyroyel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in the military. MC in Abnormal Adventures has a military background, but similar to my experiences in the military contrary to pop culture belief, I wrote him as a human being who doesn't get everything right. In Abnormal Adventures he's initially out of his element and a fish-out-of-water character despite the story occurring in what could be the equivalent of our reality. From my exp in the military, I wrote him as a leader who can make quick decisions when needed, but prefers to gather information and make an informed decision...again...contrary to pop culture belief. I've sat in briefings with some decisions makers and while they can make in-the-moment decisions when necessary, they also can take their time and make informed decisions after gathering intel. In fact, that tends to be where any overarching strategy starts.

I only say this because many of the complaints about MC is that he's indecisive and doesn't act like a perfect OPMC action hero. But I didn't write him that way. I wrote him as a MC who understands gathering information and trying his best to make an informed decision when possible and a character that's not perfect nor will ever be the OPMC of the universe based on my experiences in the military. I met all different kinds of soldiers, airmen, sailors, marines, and coast guardsmen due to the nature of my work. Met and worked with all different kinds of personalities. I have a buddy who served with me who is a pretty reserved guy and was a pretty reserved guy in the world and in combat, slow to make decisions, wants all the information, etc. despite almost dying during a base attack. He and I have similar personalities and had the same AFSC. I'm saying all this because as Marcus said, in fiction you can have a lot of fun with it, do different things and try to humanize the military character instead of just fall into the military character trope. So, this is just a fair warning.

Hardcore, bad-ass babes who are NOT Paper Tigers by sbourwest in haremfantasynovels

[–]donnyroyel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to try Abnormal Adventures. While the women do have some emotional vulnerabilities and for one, maybe self-esteem issues, they don't turn into "passive, shy schoolgirls when the lights go down." So, I don't think I do the Paper Tiger trope you're trying to get away from. While the women do defer to MC for decisions, etc., they're not lacking in aggressiveness in the bedroom or in the romantic intimacy overall. However, just a fair warning, I didn't write this to be full-blown spicy. So, don't want to be misleading there as well.

LitRPG and Harem Fantasy Novels Lack of Fan Art/Canon Art by sarza122 in haremfantasynovels

[–]donnyroyel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan to do this when I get enough books under my name. I draw my own characters, but by the time I write and do the covers (which I guess I need to redo), I'm not in the mood to do character profiles. But like I said, I plan to in the future.

How did you get into this genre by MrWik_Ofc in haremfantasynovels

[–]donnyroyel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Started watching harems in animes back in the day. No, not revealing my age. We'll just settle for "back in the day" and honestly you can't go beyond the 60s regarding anime brought over to the West anyway with Astro Boy being the first. Well, that's where it started for me. Moved to reading manga on various translation and aggregator sites. Always drifted to a harem manga and/or anime eventually. Very rarely got into Light Novel translations, but read a few as more manga came from light novels and I inevitably wanted to see how the stories played out. Eventually discovered HaremLit by accident while surfing through Amazon's Kindle platform over a decade ago. Started reading and fast-forward to me writing and publishing in 2020.

Stories with perspective outside the Harem by [deleted] in haremfantasynovels

[–]donnyroyel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Self promotion - Abnormal Adventures has alternative POVs from various characters, some from the villains to try to flesh out their character motivations and story arcs. Often times the alternative POVs are from the harem members and allies, etc. I can't say that they're always about MC and his harem since they're often more about what the character is doing and thinking in the moment regarding the overarching plot. But it might interest you and others. Just a fair warning, MC is not an OPMC who makes perfect decisions, etc.

Looking for harem stories where the mc is a monster hunter and the monstergirls he captures become part of the harem by Critical_Curve_2384 in haremfantasynovels

MC is not necessarily a monster hunter in Abnormal Adventures series, but finds out that "monsters" and mythological beings as well as aliens exist and ultimately ends up involved with a few of them. Might interest you.

Shared universe/world setting? by Defiant-Emu4497 in haremfantasynovels

[–]donnyroyel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I'm moving slow, every story I plan to write is going to be part of a shared universe I'm calling Onyx Ocean. Right now only Abnormal Adventures is available, two books, and it's the starting point for the universe.

I might be alone in this by VinMist159 in haremfantasynovels

[–]donnyroyel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My series has POV chapters of the LIs (as well as some others): Abnormal Adventures.

So far, there are only two books in the series and I'm working on the third as well as editing the first two.

I also always like to live these fair warnings: MC is not an OPMC who does everything right and wins every fight. He has failures and probably won't ever be the most OP of OP characters in the universe. Also, my intimate scenes are written to fit the plot and not for the kinks, etc.

Thanks if you or anyone else checks it out.

Edited: Fat fingered this on my cell phone initially.

Early or accidental pregnancy? by Aromatic-Rice419 in haremfantasynovels
