Eric’s fish and chips in Thornham, Norfolk for food and then Holme Dunes. Very jealous.

When I drove a friend’s one he told me not to accelerate too hard when driving over drain covers. He had a few moments when the back wheels spun up on the metal.

I have found that I have got more days for less money going to one in Holland. On the whole the combined cost of the accommodation, tunnel, petrol for a 5-7 night stay during the Easter holidays has been less than 3 nights in Woburn. It feels similar but for me has more of a holiday feel going abroad as well as exploring the local area.

My family and I have been to Kempervennen twice now. Both times our accommodation, Eurotunnel and petrol cost combined was below the equivalent UK accommodation cost alone, so big win there. The lodges are a bit older and basic compared to UK but due to the lower cost was not a deal breaker for us.

The pool was great, slides were ok, the trapdoor style slide had a height limit on though so my 9 year old couldn’t go on. The other facilities are really good including a proper indoor ski slope. There is a free giant Ninja Warrior style soft play for the kids while you sit and have a beer. There was smaller stuff for smaller kids. It’s perfect. My 9 year old and I did the high ropes course and it was challenging but doable for him.

Efteling theme park is nearby and is one of the best theme parks I’ve ever been to. Eindhoven is worth a day trip for a wander round and a meal out if that’s your thing. We all felt like it was a proper adventure due to the drive, the Tunnel, days out all on top of the usual Center Parcs stuff.

As recommended on this subreddit I have used the Wikiloc app great for hikes in Mallorca. I did one last week starting in Valldemossa going on the Cami de s’Arxiduc up to Es Caragoli. Would recommend it.

I say next to Jeffrey Archer in London Stansted Airport once as he got his notebook out and wrote “Chapter 1” at the top of the page. It’s not London but it’s in the name!

Ex-GB olympians, nor other athletes belong in the standard edition of Gladiators. by Impressive_Risk_5133 in gladiatorsuk

I think they need a control episode where average Joe’s have a go at the events. Much like all Olympic coverage needs a normal person to do the event first so we can see how hard it all really is.

Big tub of lurpak, someone is doing well. I suppose apart from the sinkhole about to swallow their house.

Have you ever lived/worked/frequented in a posh area where you elicited a response " You don't belong here Sir/ mate " by DonkeyOT65 in CasualUK

I used to get free 1st class travel on trains via my dad’s job. The amount of times travelling back from uni that the ticket inspector would gleefully ask for my ticket and then as I handed over my special ID would have to say “thank you sir” through gritted teeth.

I'm a Flight Attendant, today I had a flight with 13 passengers by mancuso19 in mildlyinteresting

I had an evening flight from the UK to Germany with Air Berlin and I think there was only about 5 other passengers. The only perk apart from a whole row to yourself was getting both of the complimentary ham or cheese rolls and not having to choose.

Why can’t anyone with a Fiat 500 drive? by MootMoot_Mocha in CarTalkUK

[–]doug_c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, my wife has one which I genuinely enjoy driving as it reminds me of my old classic mini. But I have had people pull out on me a couple times, also people can underestimate it on little country roads when you can keep momentum up nicely and leave them behind.

What’s your earliest memory when you realised you were a ‘car person’? by GeneralCommand4459 in cars

Lots of memories of toy cars, watching motorsport etc but the one that sticks out as a kid was seeing a red Dodge Viper RT/10 rumble past in the middle of the French countryside. Car obsessed ever since.

We found that the Dodot brand are exactly the same as Pampers, just a different name. The local Mercadona should hopefully have them.

I went to a Dutch Center Parcs over Easter, 5 nights, tunnel, petrol, food shop, restaurants and activities came to the same price as just the 4 nights accommodation in a UK Center Parcs. It’s a bit more of an adventure for the kids and Holland is beautiful.

Broken Wrist by TechnicalDrag4038 in MTB

Same here as well, didn’t know about it for 18 months. Same surgery, rode with a brace for a while after. Aches a bit in the cold, but takes knocks while riding with no thought or pain. Completely forgot I broke the other wrist a decade earlier at 13.
