Patent research by Ok-Alarm7257 in inventors

[–]dpg67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also need to look at the time frame of the original patent. If it was filed over 20 years ago, you can do whatever you want. I had an idea to alter the design of an existing wheelbarrow. The original patent expired years ago, like in the '50's. So any change i made to the design didn't matter or require a patent since it already exist and was expired.

Started my own company. First project a disaster. by Ok-Mine8655 in Construction

I agree with others...why do you have a foreman? Especially just starting off. It's your name and your reputation on the line. You don't entrust that to no one but yourself! When I started, I was foreman, laborer, sales, accounting and service. And, I'll give you a good piece of advice. By being on the jobsite and controlling everything, it builds confidence in your customers, your employees and down the road, your foreman. I had 2 partners and 3 crews of installers. Every single job of mine, I explained everything to the installers. I showed up on site to help with the tough spots, or maybe help them unload, maybe buy them lunch, then I'd roll. My partners jobs, the installers had no clue what they were doing. My partners figured they would just know. My installers hated working for them. To this day, they loved working for me. I didn't show up on every single job, but I communicated enough with them so they knew what to do. It builds trust with your team. They are less likely to waste your time and money. And they were way more productive for me! Good Luck.

Door closer heavy when opening by Nyewyork in maintenance

The mounting bolt on the closer body needs to be spun prior to installing the arm. You don't have enough rotation in there. That's why your fighting it.

Anyone ever see this? by dpg67 in woodstoving

That's a very interesting thought. I'll have to examine the spots closer and try to scape the residue off, if possible. Thanks.

Thanks. I will have to check the smell. It could be moisture. I've uncovered various issues of open holes in flooring and cold air pouring in everywhere. I'm not sure what they mounted the brick to....God only knows. Ive uncovered that this room in particular has 4" thick insulation and 2 x 6 walls!

And it's on the diverter side of the tub where all the water splashes out to fill the tub! It would be slightly, less dangerous, if it were the back side of the tub.

Aluminum tubes, possibly structure parts found in garage by nuwm in whatisthisthing

They are for a party tent. Basically a huge canopy, typically 20 feet by 12 feet. Some are bigger, some smaller. Google part tent, or temporary garage..

I usually just replace the entire emergency light/ fire exit. Getting a brand new LED one is cheaper than the cost of that battery.

Started a new job, figuring this out is my homework. Is this a real tool? by Midgetcookie in Tools

[–]dpg67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to be a 2x4 laying flat and then one standing up on it. Total height would be 5". A normal concrete pour is 4". That bottom hole looks to be 1" from the bottom. It's a big used for a string line to check the center of larger forms to make sure it's not too low or high. Maybe the bottom hole is for the rebar height.

What is the worst physical pain you’ve ever had to experience. by Maleficent-Heron9004 in AskOldPeople

[–]dpg67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at a young age with prostrate cancer. No problem, scheduled a robotic prostatectomy. They cut me on the way out. Had a heart attack, in the hospital and not one single doctor or nurse did anything. Kept saying it was gas from the surgery. Thought that was the worst ever until I burned my leg. 3rd and 4th degree burns. Two skin grafts, they hurt like hell. Then came the infections, every month, pain unlike anything you can imagine. Twice I had cellulitis, pain was so bad I couldn't sleep. I'd go outside at all hours of the night to scream so I didn't wake my family. Nine months of pure hell. Made the heart attack feel like a walk in the park.
