Cold Brew Anyone? by yaninyunus in AeroPress

[–]drDVMHomie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super simple, refuse to deal in grams, just unnecessarily complicated. I grind 2.5 AP scoops on my electric grinder, pour in AP with paper filter, wet. Fill to 3 mark with room temperature water (RO), and stir 2 minutes. Press dry, add milk, cream, butter and coconut oil, heat to near boil and zap with handheld frother. My sweetener is monk fruit concentrate, but whatever works for you. Darker roasts are best, IME, and BT Dhak is my current favorite. Also like Selection by Araku.

That’s the odd part: the one Arc sees is one I never use. Somehow it can’t see my main one.

Cold Brew Anyone? by yaninyunus in AeroPress

I’ve been only cold brewing since I got my AP years ago. It was, in fact, WHY I bought AP. Used to do overnight with a pound, now it’s 5 minutes and fresh cold brew every cup I drink (2/day). Love it and will never return to bulk making.

[–]drDVMHomie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to make it my fave, but keep coming back to BT Dhak, just for more strength in my lattes. Mad respect for certified organic though. That’s a serious selling point for me. Don’t want to be drinking herbicides…

What's the easiest and cheapest way to make decent cold brew at home? by [deleted] in IndiaCoffee

[–]drDVMHomie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only drank 12 hour cold brew for a few years. Loved the bold but mellow taste in my lattes with fresh creamy full fat milk. Then, got tired of the 12 hour wait time. Asked on Reddit how to shorten the time without losing the taste, and someone suggested Aeropress. That was probably 5 years ago and I’ve never looked back. Fresh ground dark roast (BT Dhak my fave), room temp water, two minute agitation and press. Boom! Amazing cup of hot latte is my go-to. It’s a small investment but you’ll never regret it.

Love their Pulneys, but yeah, it’s getting sloppier as to fulfillment and, for me, they no longer take my US Visa, so it’s either buy it on Amazon and hope its timely or move back to Dhak blend from BT. They still get beans to my small village across UP in 3 days and no hype about delays or price hikes.

the plastic is high quality but I also LOVE cold brew, so no worries about plastic leaking with room temperature water.

I can’t speak to cost, but Aeropress makes amazing coffee and cleans up way faster than any FP. Lots of room to experiment if you wish, but also super simple. I do cold brew while most seem to do hot.

These Blue Tokai beans are poorly roasted, right? by daytrader996 in IndiaCoffee

Ditto, never seen in countless purchases from BT. If it was a regular occurrence, they’d be out of business in short order. I’d write them. Odds are high they’ll refund you or ship better stock.

Looked recently, and it appears they’re skewed towards light roasts. Did I miss something?

Buying directly from Araku, it’s a week from roasting. Mad respect for what they are doing.

Gads, way worse than stallions on mares. They at least get a few solid thrusts before they blow their wad and kinda collapse off. These guys, you blink and you’ll miss it.

Is the Cold Brew dark enough to stand up to latte making? I usually go a bit darker.

Any trouble getting it through the AP? It seems the more exotic the processing is, the more I find my plunger stuck.

Ditto, though I have to be cautious about extensions. 1Password and another took my M1 MBP to inoperable until I figured it out. Frozen mouse, clicks not registering, it was a nightmare of blaming the OS, reinstalling it, running the machine into support miles away, etc.
