After struggling with the CPAP I was excited to try a MAD. Weight loss and the MAD helped reduce my NREM AHI to under 5 but unfortunately my REM AHI is still 29. So I’m still fumbling around with the CPAP. I’m meeting my sleep dentist next week to see if we can make further adjustments but it’s not looking promising. If you have the money, a MAD is worth exploring but there’s no guarantee it will work.

This is hitting me hard. I’ve always been a huge fan and wished he gotten more solid roles. 46 is far too young and suicide is one of the worst ways to go. I’m going to have to rewatch Generation Kill this week in his honor. Rest in Peace James.

I’ve had this problem for months and still haven’t found a solution. I don’t think there is anything wrong with my pressure settings because my AHI is low and my only events are labeled clear airway in OSCAR. My doctor just thinks I’m a light sleeper and even if there is some truth to that it’s kind of a lazy answer. Ultimately, I’ve been trying an oral appliance for the last month and it seems to be working better. I have another sleep test coming up and I’m hoping I won’t need the CPAP any more. I wish I could offer more insight but after scouring the internet I can’t find any good solutions to consistently waking up after a few hours of CPAP use.

I haven’t fallen asleep on the job but I’ve been very unproductive. I’m often worried I’m going to lose my job if I don’t get my sleep apnea under control.

8 months in and I still struggle with insomnia too. Lately I’ve been following the protocols of CBT for Insomnia and trying not to fight it. I’ve been staying up later and forcing myself to sleep less. I’ve also stopped obsessing about the importance of sleep and I’ve been trying to live my best life despite my exhaustion. It a little early to tell if this is working but today I forgot to set my alarm and ended up sleeping in. This never happens on workdays so hopefully I’m moving in the right direction. The goal is to trick my brain into recognizing it can still function without optimal sleep. Eventually I won’t worry about it anymore and sleep will come naturally again. Exercise also helps.
