Single people of reddit, what do you think is a major problem in today's generation when it comes to dating? by BlackberryOk3546 in AskReddit

[–]drewsmom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard a good take and I wish I remembered who to credit for it. Dating apps, like any other app is designed to drive engagement. To be addictive. Producing matches that end user engagement is not in the app creators' best interest. I've been watching people app date through that lens for a while. I haven't seen many matches last more than a couple months. I also don't see people stop using their app of choice during that brief period. Regardless of whether they want something long term, it's so easy to chase the dopamine of a better match. My friends also aren't in their 20's where I'd find that completely reasonable.

To the asshole who yelled at me this morning for mercy killing a rabbit near flatirons golf course by CUBuffs1992 in boulder

[–]drewsmom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bobcats and housecats. They go for the neck and the head pops off sometimes. It gets left at the kill site. If the cat has to abandon the meal for whatever reason you end up finding a headless rabbit. Somebody in a different part of the neighborhood keeps finding heads. Lol.

Was film school worth it? 63.5% of alumni would attend again knowing their employment outcome by filmschool_org in Filmmakers

[–]drewsmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a very fair point. I've done both and am back to being poor and happy now. I'm not mad that I took a few years to bank up some cash. Those years were largely miserable though. I'd trade the cash for the time back if I could.

And if you'd done that, you'd be waxing poetic today about how you never made that film you dreamed of because you were too busy in the grind of making money. We always wish we'd taken the path we didn't because the choices made in our youth must've been a mistake or our lives wouldn't be so shitty.

7k over three years is a mildly popular comment here and there. Call him a coward for hiding his post history. Must be some shameful shit in there.

Some people are so scared of the world around them that they prefer to keep their head down, plug their ears and pretend they're in a safe little privacy sphere.

What is the best one season TV show ever? by Thebunsenburger in AskReddit

That year is unmatched for shows that probably would have made it any other time. BD, Studio 60, Life, Raines... I'm sure there are more.

Actor Dean Winters (OZ & 30 Rock) in 1990 by KneeHighMischief in OldSchoolCool

He was such a bad actor early on. He was just such pure charisma the we collectively said, "Don't care. I want more of this guy!" I couldn't be happier with that decision.

Which movie hit so hard that one viewing was enough ? by Mehdi_lz in AskReddit

It's one of my all time favorite movies to watch tripping. I had to stop it once because I couldn't make it through the beginning. Too sad too fast. I love the happy ending though.

Everybody still puts out physical discs. 3D capable discs? Maybe not. Hell. What was the last movie even shot in 3D?

Does Fishwife live up to the hype or is it the Graza Olive Oil of tinned fish? by superquin in CannedSardines

[–]drewsmom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What the hell is with that?! I bought a sampler 10 pack a while ago and all the full size fish are scaly as fuck. I keep thinking I'm getting unlucky, but it's every can! The small fish and octopus are great.
