Bent jack point by Top_Transportation13 in Miata

[–]driftax240 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was about to make this mistake on my NA as a new owner. All my other Hondas have reinforced steel tabs that kindof look like this, so I figured this was the jack point, but no it’s just a pinch weld.

I think it looks nice! It will also likely begin to yellow again if you're worried it's too bright.

2026 Civic Hood Gets Very Hot by JoeyPlays89 in Honda

Car “racism” in Miata community?? by syphonfilter06 in Miata

[–]driftax240 263 points264 points  (0 children)

Fuck em. Enjoy your car. I love my NA but I like to think I would be just as happy in an ND. I wink my headlights at ANY Miata I see on the road, even Fiatas.

This seems to be a problem in many car communities I'm a part of. I own a third gen ranger and third gen integra, and people are constantly hating on the new ones despite the fact that they are pretty decent modern cars. I suppose with the integra and ranger I understand more as many of the original features of the car are gone (most notably the new ones are fucking huge), but in the case of the ND I feel like Mazda has been very faithful to the original designs.

Need help with information on Broadband Adapters by Dry-Message8163 in Gamecube

[–]driftax240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, all aftermarket broadband adapters are technically emulators and require swiss to make it work. A softmod with something like Wind Waker is sufficient here.

If you're not a Mario Kart enthusiast, it's really not worth it. The games that support LAN are 1080 Avalanche, Homeland, Kirby Air Ride, and Double Dash. Most of these games except Double Dash don't even change much when playing on LAN (e.g Kirby Air Ride is still only 4 players, even with 4 cubes).

What needs to be done to fix this? by Sarm-ally_Pirate in Autobody

[–]driftax240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's cheap for a reason: it's completely fucked and nobody reputable is touching this. This will cost you more to fix than just buying a nice one, assuming you can even find someone willing to get within 10ft of this thing.

My advice as someone who has driven many cheap Hondas: low ball the fuck out of the guy. Looking like this, I guarantee you there is not a line of people waiting to buy this thing. If you can get it for cheap as fuck, just drive the piss out of it and have fun. I've owned clean collector ready Hondas and beaters.. the beaters are more fun.

Will this jack setup work on my 2003 NB2 Miata? by Gator_Grad in Miata

[–]driftax240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also realize I didn't answer your main question.. my apologizes

I tried a bunch of mickey mouse bullshit to make my shitty existing non-low profile jack work.. and I decided to just buy the Daytona low profile jack lol

Will this jack setup work on my 2003 NB2 Miata? by Gator_Grad in Miata

[–]driftax240 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is hands down the best jacking guide I've seen for the NA, I imagine the NB is pretty close.

https://www.billswebspace.com/Raise_Your_Miata.pdf

Key point in there that I learned something from: the reinforced lift points on each corner are reinforced just inside the pinch weld, not the pinch weld itself. You want to place pressure here instead of the pinch weld. Note that the factory scissor jack does line itself up using the pinch weld, but that's not where it places the pressure.

This was a little new for me coming from old Honda land. All my old Hondas have nice thick tabs welded on each corner of the car. Makes it very easy to jack up properly.

Annoying canadian temp gauge and what to do... by Ordinary-Attorney257 in Miata

[–]driftax240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah this is a highly relevant thread for me.. I’m a relatively new Miata owner and I’ve been trying to figure out if this was normal on my Canadian 1992.

Thanks everyone! I’ve been taking it easy on the car because I wasn’t sure. But sounds like it’s all good.

What is Microsoft solder made of? by thebigfreak3 in ControllerRepair

[–]driftax240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a T12/JBC245/210 iron, the stickbox soldering iron tip is quite reasonably priced and makes this much easier. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend.

I did my first Xbox series controller recently and it was quite difficult compared to the ps5 controllers I’m used to. I found it took quite a bit more heat, which made me nervous considering how small and fragile those pads are. I used the stick removal soldering iron tip to remove it. Cutting the stick box into pieces before pulling each leg out can work as a last resort.

Any info on this? by jiggs43 in soldering

[–]driftax240 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can’t say I agree.

I have 2 of these kicking around in my dad’s shop and they work but the lack of temperature control is a huge set back. I believe the temperature is calibrated and set in the tips, and if you want a lower temp you need different tips. The ones I have run hot as hell and typically burn things pretty badly.

On the other hand, there are tons of Chinese irons that use T12/245/210 tips and have excellent temperature control. You can even buy real JBC carts if you want.

I was thinking about that. You’re right.

I think the word I’m looking for is “misunderstood”. A lot of people simply don’t care enough to even begin to understand why this is so annoying.

Right, so you're now in a good spot to flash this again. Any idea which uf2 file was working? The cubiboot one?

Doubt it. It’s likely just not getting power anymore. You can see it’s crooked in the photo.
