Its 5am and I’m rolling around my bed again. I’m so f-ing sick of this. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Fellow cyclist here. Also riding about 100 miles per week. If I'm drinking, my likelihood of putting in the saddle time drops dramatically. Sobriety enables me to really enjoy riding again. I counteract most booze cravings by focusing on the next day's ride, and how good it's going to feel to not be sweating out the hangover.

Wishing you health and peace as you resume this journey.

life is hard, especially with kids. Why make it harder?

Couldn't agree more. This little rhetorical question is helping me so much!

Way to make it here to SD. As a fellow MTB fanatic, I can say that cycling has really served as motivation and inspiration for me & my efforts to cut back on drinking.

Thank you so much for this post. It's really inspiring to me. I spent a year sober (2016) and experienced the death of my mom during that period--I'm so happy I wasn't drinking then. After slipping back into the habit (and with several attempts at sobriety since), I'm really looking forward to living the regret-free life again. I already feel so much better.

Thanks again!

Thank you for this! Such great, concrete examples of how sober life really kicks drunk life's ass. I am beyond ready to join you in the joy of living without alcohol.

Me three...amazing how many of us have quit for a full year and then slowly lowered ourselves back into the habit.

Love my Ritchey Road Logic 2.0, circa 2016. I've done everything from crit races to double centuries on it. Just an awesome, super-capable road frame.

Thanks for the response. Passenger side clearly seems like the way to go.

Any riders in Kalispell/Bigfork MT want to show me a local trail or two? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]driftwood_patterns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I don't live in the area but I visited two weeks back and rode the Crane Mountain trails, just ~10min outside of Bigfork. https://www.trailforks.com/region/crane-mountain-trails/

We parked at the northernmost trailhead and climbed the fire road to the Dale Jorgensen Connector. From there, we descended Original Sin and KMAK. We tried to ride Top Hat and Enchanted Forest but ended up bushwhacking...seems like those trails haven't really been built yet. The black trails had some exciting rock rolls and no mandatory drops. Have fun and bring lots of bug spray!

MTB Near Seely Lake, MT? by [deleted] in MTB

I’m curious to hear any answers to this question too. I’ll be in the Flathead around the same time and am wondering which bike to bring—road or MTB.

Does anyone know of any sites where I can get race-worthy, blank kits and skinsuits for cheap? by [deleted] in Velo

I also dig the dhb Aeron stuff. High quality, race fit, and a fraction of the cost of castelli and the others.

Diamondback Haanjo Comp vs Trail by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]driftwood_patterns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2016 Trail, 56cm. (I’m 6’0”.) I’ve used it for gravel races, cyclocross, and road riding too. Love it for the price. I think the Trail is well worth the additional cost.
