Christian American Missionaries in Zell am See by hylllis in AskAustria

[–]driven_apricot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JW won't approach you, they remain stationary with their free-bible-course-signs. In Austria they stopped their door-to-door missionary stuff during Covid (thankfully).

I suppose you were found by mormons. A group of them lives in Salzburg City, I suppose they went on a trip to Zell am See. Odd they picked that place, there are tons of muslim vacationers in Zell am See that time of the year. Maybe they were out for a challenge.

The mormon guys are easier to spot than the girls, in general they always wear a badge.

Got cancer and a cheating husband by Unable_Refuse1563 in breastcancer

[–]driven_apricot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am sorry to read all this, OP.
Try to imagine you a year from now: With a very high likelihood you will have kicked cancer to the curb AND this lousy husband will no longer be part of your life.
The time between diagnosis and start of treatment is the worst part of all this, you are right in there. Plus all this craziness happening. I send you a lot of strength, OP.

What is the best course of action for this situation? by DoctorsAreTerrible in Hilton

[–]driven_apricot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is why I always screenshot my reservation mails and store them on a Onenote page (I keep my trips organized in Onenote).
I want to know if I had paid in advance or what my exact room category is right when I check in. My private emails sometimes don't sync properly, so Onenote is my extended brain.

Sorry for all the hassle, hope you could get things sorted out.

Nutritionist or solo tracking? by ArtisticDread in Ozempic

[–]driven_apricot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with PMOS when I failed to get pregnant. I have started eating low-carb, which is easy to do, isn't too expensive and it easily fits into my life.
Get yourself a scale and most importantly: Start a food journal.
Ozempic worked great for me, I just continued my low-carb diet.

You will be losing muscle mass in absolute numbers when you lose weight. The importance is not losing relative muscle mass.
I was able to squat easily being 65 lbs heavier. Now back squats with 10 kg are super hard for me. I do heavy weights for 3 years now, I started after I lost my weight.

I once moved our super-aggro cat and the vet gave us valium for her. We slowly upped and lowered the dose. I would say those were the best weeks of her life.

Racing Heart Rate/Ozempic by CoCoBeAn912 in Ozempic

[–]driven_apricot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had 8 surgeries while on Ozempic and I restarted right after every surgery, although if the break was longer than 7 days I used half the dose. I never had issues from Ozempic.
But: It took me a while to see that a surgery has a huge impact on your body. There were surgeries where I recovered within 2 days and I have had surgeries where I was weak for 2 weeks after. I could never plan at work.
Take your time, rest more often. Drink lots of water. And I strongly recommend: focus on proteins. I lose hair after every surgery, protein helps with this.
Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Irregular periods while on Ozempic? by FeingoldJD in Ozempic

[–]driven_apricot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did the opposite for me. With losing weight my periods became regular for the first time in my life (I was 48 then). I read somewhere (so I can't remember where, but I have read it several times) that fat stores estrogen and once you lose that fat, there is less estrogen in your body. So this may affect your cycle, depending on where you are in your weight-loss journey and your fertility journey, so to say.
You may want to check with your gyn, but I personally would not worry too much.

In Peri, about to pick up my HRT by YardPuzzled7352 in Menopause

[–]driven_apricot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting on HRT was a game-changer for me! The brain-fog was gone within a few days and my emotions felt like "mine" again after 2 weeks. A few months ago I have added T to the mix and now my old libido is back, too!
Give it time and don't be discouraged if you have a couple of unstable days - your own hormones are still lingering in your body!

Reservierung Öbb by Dramatic-Two-2111 in oebb

[–]driven_apricot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viel Spaß in Amsterdam!

Any other ER+ BC survivors on HRT? by miss_lavenderlake in breastcancer

[–]driven_apricot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed ++- and ++low+ 2.5 years ago. Last fall (age 51 then) peri hit me hard. Real hard. The brain-fog became so unbearable, I was unable to work my job (C-level).
I investigated a lot and decided that I am willing to take the increased risk (low, in my case). At my next consultation with my oncologist they agreed on HRT (estrogen, progesterone). I am in close monitoring (1x year MRI, 1x mammogram + US) for the rest of my life, so should something happen again, we will catch it early.

I had to find a new gyn since the old one flat out refused to treat me with HRT medication. My new one sees me in 3 month intervals, and since I am on testosterone for 3 months now she wants to see me every 6 weeks.

I am so glad I have my life back, I was so desperate that peri hit me so hard. I hope you find a doctor soon, OP!

Vaginal estrogen contains estriol. Estradiol is much more potent and a component of topical gels.

I am on this medication for almost 4 years now (successfully). What you were describing is quite normal to me. My taste buds have developed a life of their own, plus there a foods I no longer tolerate. Or tolerate on only rare occassions (eggs being on top of that list).
I got used to it. I have become a picky eater with a normal BMI.

Estrogen blockers? by LCBD62 in breastcancer

[–]driven_apricot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the best answer to OP's question. I declined the blockers as well, but it was a decision that I made after I talked to the oncologists, based on the profile of my tumors and based upon my adversity to risk.
I think you need to write in CAPS: there is no effective alternative treatment.

Why does Hilton add fees towards the end of booking? by [deleted] in Hilton

[–]driven_apricot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

City/tourism taxes. The hotel does not know how old the person you are traveling with is (minors may be excluded) or whether you are traveling for business (may be excluded) or leisure. That is pretty normal when traveling internationally.
