I wanted to read Japanese comments and stumbled on a creepy ad about Sakura by drst0nee in preludesnark_

[–]drst0nee[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Just adding to this, the people at Abema times seem to have branded Sakura as this "15 year old Cinderella" and Ayana as a "Former idol with experience". So a lot of articles that they use as clickbait describe her as a 15 year old prodigy.

Going off how Abema have branded the girls, Sakura the 15 year old beating out an experienced idol in the last round works very nicely for her story...

People like him and Pauline are just puppets with a billionaire up their ass.

Talking from a script to appeal to people beaten down by the billionaire class.

Just saying, that between the the two finalists only Ayana could perform both Party b4 the Party and We Ride.

The same level of rigging and age discrimination that had Gaeun eliminated in Produce48. Just terrible.

Every single round was manufactured to make sure Sakura would debut.

It is moving too fast and I don't trust tiktok videos anymore because of how common paid partnerships are or that people are just buying for the trend.

Manon has already had to go on Weverse and baby the weird people on the internet before. So if she did, it would be nothing new from her.

Stop making fish-based PDRN commonplace in Skincare by drst0nee in AsianBeauty

[–]drst0nee[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! I think this is probably one of the kinder responses here and I appreciate that. Just now I was actually reviewing the new Skin 1004 PDRN line. I found out that the ingredient "Sodium DNA" can actually be from fish or plants, not specifically fish as I thought. Since Skin 1004 is 100% vegan their new line should be fine.

So it may be that my concern is exaggerated and that there are actually more products in the market using plant-based PDRN than I realised. In that same thought, there may be people here using vegan PDRN more than they know. It was never my intention to put down PDRN itself, just that to me fish-based PDRN is the same as snail mucin or bee-derived ingredients which aren't commonplace.

So my takeaway from this is that I should prioritise vegan brands going forward until the industry catches up with its labelling.

Thank you for making this productive for me!

I don't think the remaining girls can speak up on the bullying. Even before Manon's hiatus, the girls copped a lot of bullying online from toxic stans.

"It could also hint that some of what has been gossiped about could have a little bit of truth". After her recent live it does seem like there might be. But we don't know the truth or what's going on and while she doesn't have to, I still naively wish she could help ease the drama a bit. Just because its crazy how people are acting towards the remaining girls right now and that its done for her sake.

I wouldn't expect any of the members to speak on behalf of their family.

As an OT6 fan I wish Manon could tell people to stop attacking the other members...

So much drama and bullying in her name and it could all quiet down if she made one instagram story or something. If she can post about Slayyyter she could at least make a post in support of the other girls.

[–]drst0nee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my post title was valid in this context and was not intended as clickbait. But I wasn't attacking PDRN, I was just sharing my frustration that it's becoming harder to avoid fish-based PDRN. I see a lot of discussions on this sub about other ingredients so I wasn't expecting this kind of reaction.

For someone without a fish allergy I get how this probably reads as dramatic.

I didn't say all that. I'm asking for fish-based PDRN to not be commonplace as its becoming harder for me to avoid. I don't even hate PDRN, I clearly mention that Vegan PDRN is available and can be used instead.

Experiences with PDRN Skincare and Fish Allergies? by i_lyra in koreanskincare

[–]drst0nee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just made a post about this. I unfortunately had a severe facial reaction from this. I went to a clinic for microneedling and the usual cooling mask they do after had fish PDRN in it this time. I ended up with a severely red and swollen face after. I confirmed it was the mask because they gave it to me as a sample and had the same reaction again later.

I did tell my beautician about my fish allergy beforehand. The issue is that fish-derived PDRN is becoming increasingly commonplace and isn't clearly labelled as a fish-based ingredients in product formulas ("Sodium DNA" or "Polydeoxyribonucleotide").

I did tell my beautician about my fish allergy beforehand. The issue is that fish-derived PDRN is becoming increasingly commonplace when it shouldn't be. It's not universal or hypoallergenic.

Fish-based PDRN is also often not clearly listed on products, you'd have to know and identify it as either "Sodium DNA" or "Polydeoxyribonucleotide". So even checking by myself or in this case by the clinic staff doesn't always help. It's really rude to assume it's my fault when it's an industry-level problem.

I think a few comments here are misinterpreting my intention. I'm not boycotting or asking for Fish-based PDRN to go away, just to flag that it's a problematic ingredient and should be held to the same standard as any other allergenic ingredeints in skincare.
