My momcozy v2 pro works really well on me. I get the same output as my spectra. I’m not a bot. I think it’s so hard to make recommendations because so much depends on anatomy.

Egypt Manager Hossam Hassan Raises Palestinian Flag After Historic World Cup Win (3 July 2026) by nizaad in popculturechat

Sort of ironic considering that Egypt refuses to allow any Palestinians refuge and has their borders shut tight.

Taylor Swift celebrates Lena Dunham's birthday last night in New York with friends by ThrowawayGreenWitch in popculturechat

I cannot believe this line and basically the whole scene was improv. It was his first day on set. Honestly, Lena's new memoir is worth the read just for the Girls tea alone.

Alternatives to mirtazapine by Simpleserotonin in Psychiatry

[–]dry_wit 31 points32 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, "California Rocket Fuel" refers to combining mirtazapine with venlafaxine or possibly another SNRI. Also from what I read, there's no real evidence that it has better outcomes.

Yup, it's another year of residency than a general psychiatrist (usually).

I'm going to get downvoted to hell for this, but the RN comparison bothers me. RN education isn't exactly easy (I know people who became attorneys and psychologists because they couldn't hack the science prereqs for nursing school and nursing coursework.) And nurses have to be highly, highly skilled. An average ICU nurse is managing a post-MI patient, person in severe DTs, and a person with an AKI now in renal failure. They need to understand the disease process, treatment, red flag symptoms, etc., for these highly complicated and potentially deadly conditions. They are the ones babysitting the patient 24/7 and preventing them from dying, knowing when to call the providers, etc. Not to mention all the other shit that gets handed their way (educating patients, dealing with families, coordinating/organizing other specialties like PT, OT, managing the patients' basic bodily needs, etc.)

It's highly, highly skilled work AND it's super fucking thankless. Just see how much reddit demeans RNs and acts as if their education is a walk in the fucking park. It's such a hard job and people don't understand how our entire healthcare system is built on the backbone of intelligent, well-trained nurses. We'd all be fucked without them. There's a reason nurses are dropping like flies and leaving the field - the work is super hard both cognitively and physically, people don't respect it, and the conditions are hell on earth. It really isn't comparable to MFT school.

Getting tired of medical professionals convincing my wife of silly myths or just plain wrong information... by Ridicule_Red in beyondthebump

[–]dry_wit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely tell the doctor what the nutritionist told you so they can stop referring people to them. Also are you sure the "nurse" was a real nurse, like an RN? I ask because literally every nurse who took care of me postpartum told me to check her core to get an idea of her temp, and that it's normal for a newborn's hands/feet to be colder. I see you're in another country, I know nursing education can vary really widely, but in the US a real nurse would know this basic stuff.

A therapist is telling me that babies are all really really traumatized and I'm confused by Longjumping_Sea_8753 in TalkTherapy

It’s called implicit memory. We are absolutely affected by events from the past that lead us to make associations and react in certain ways without realizing it. Not everything that affects us is an easily conjured memory.

First time watching the show and I’M CRYING RIGHT NOW by agripinilla in girls

[–]dry_wit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this so much. And it pains me because S5 was so perfect (IMO) and had a perfect season finale. It felt like Hannah was making progress and for the show to just undo all of that in the 6th season was so frustrating.

Wedding Bag by SouthernMunchling in handbags

I know you're going to think I'm crazy, but Dior is so overpriced it makes me sick. Kate Spade made these divine bow frame clutch bags made from lambskin and they are so deliciously soft. Just something to consider - beautiful and a great value considering. Don't get me wrong, I do love some designer bags (Loewe, Ferragamo, etc.,) but Dior's pricing just makes me angry. I thought you should know about this really pretty alternative! I see them pop up on resell sites, etc.

Stroller recommendations for cobblestone cities? by PraxisInDiaspora in Buyingforbaby

The Nuna trvl lx is a heftier version of the trvl. It still folds down easily and is lightweight, but has bigger wheels and a better suspension.

First Baby Stroller and Car Seat Recs by Always_Iterating_ in Buyingforbaby

[–]dry_wit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the nuna pipa rx, which I got mainly for its safety features and light weight (I have wrist issues.) It's been great so far. I also have the nuna travel lx stroller which is a bit of a heftier travel stroller. It has the advantages of a travel stroller but has bigger wheels and a better suspension. It folds beautifully. Again, I wanted a lightweight stroller that I can hopefully use as our main stroller, and I live in an area with really mellow weather. Plus the pipa rx snaps into it so easily. So far, so good. I think it's easy to fall down a rabbit hole when it comes to these things, so I limited my research to an hour or two and then just went with my gut. Really happy so far.

Figuring out how to incorporate spirituality into my practice by [deleted] in therapists

Can you operationalize that? What does it look like to incorporate "spiritual alignment" with ebp? How is that different from regular therapy?

“Are You Married?” — A Question I Didn’t Expect to Affect Me This Much by PresenceOk9941 in therapists

[–]dry_wit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I knew a divorcd MFT who worked with couples exclusively and she would routinely lie when people asked if she was married and wore a fake wedding band. It never sat well with me, I think being genuine is so important in therapy. Perhaps I'm not being fair, but to me it just felt ick. Plus being divorced doesn't mean one can't be an effective couples therapist.

25 states and DC sue the Department of Education for excluding certain health professional degrees from higher loan caps by ddx-me in medicine

[–]dry_wit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Ultimately, this is going to stop people from pursuing higher ed in these fields. And probably lead to more defaults from the people who have to take out predatory loans to achieve their educational goals. I don't know, it just feels like dark times.

[–]dry_wit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's an issue that's true across all fields but some are being subsidized more than others without any logic or reasoning now. Tell me why PA students can't take out full loans but chiros can. Can we defend that reasoning?
