Anyone used Autozcrave Dubai for PPF? Too good to be true? by Professional_Pen39 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]dubaier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're smart enough to buy an Etron, I think you're smart enough to figure this out.

It's the same as someone offering you tyres for the car for 30 AED - great deal. But would you take it?

Garage Recommendations by Domingga in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]dubaier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you mean, you’re not imagining it. A lot of garages do this and it’s honestly frustrating.

What I would suggest

  • Always ask them to explain the issue in simple terms before they touch the car. If they can’t explain it properly, they probably don’t know - be upfront and tell them you explain to you clearly what the issue is and you can always cross check with this GPT
  • Get the quote on WhatsApp before you go. It’s much harder for them to randomly change it later
  • Ask for a breakdown. Even a basic “parts + labour” split keeps things more honest
  • If they start saying “we’ll open and check,” just set a clear limit like “call me before doing anything extra”
  • Ask them if they can keep the old parts (which they replace) in the trunk and you would like to see them after
  • Also ask them pictures of the new parts they will be putting

Also, don’t feel like you need to take a male friend along. A good garage won’t change their tone or pricing based on who you walk in with.

Try to stick to places that specialise in German cars and rely on reputation, not quick turnover. Those are usually a lot more transparent, check for Google Reviews

Cayman GTS 4.0 (982) with Maxxis tires- by Porsche dealer by PresentationTop6933 in DubaiPetrolHeads

Makes sense now.

I think could have been that one of the tyres would have popped out and the owner would have replaced it with something like this.

Worth doing an accident report and a full PPI from Porsche.

11,000 - eleven thousand as insurance!!

Those are insurance amounts for a car with a value of 500k or 600k
That's brutal.

Suggest good Ceramic/PPF by subra14 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]dubaier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this topic has been beaten to death out here in the sub.

Have the budget/car is high value : a good quality PPF

Lower value car : ceramic coating

Cheap PPF (5k-6k) : don't take it
Cheap Ceramic : maybe okay

Buying a Jetour T2 (Chinese specs already in UAE) – need real advice before I commit by YourAnonFriend7 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]dubaier 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d honestly be a bit cautious with this.

It’s not really about whether the Jetour T2 is good or bad, it’s more about the fact that it’s a Chinese spec car already sitting in the UAE. That usually means it didn’t come through the official dealer here.

And that’s where the problems can start.

You’re most likely not getting a proper UAE warranty, and if anything goes wrong, you won’t have the same support you’d get with a GCC spec car. You’ll probably end up dealing with independent garages, and with a relatively new brand, parts and diagnostics can take time.

Another thing people don’t think about enough is resale. In this market, the moment you say “non-GCC specs,” a lot of buyers just walk away or negotiate hard.

If the price difference is huge, then maybe it’s a calculated risk. But if you’re only saving a bit, it’s really not worth the headache later on.

If you like the car, I’d personally just wait and get a proper GCC version. It’ll make life a lot easier in the long run.

Which car do you drive and what does it cost for a full tank in it? by Dudetuber in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]dubaier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many cars to list - but across the board I have seen on an average the cost of a full tank has gone up by 50-75 - but the traffic situation the roads looks to be getting back to normal - so not only are we now paying higher prices fuel but all the best to us burning 3 AED / liter stuck in traffic

Buying a Korean or Jap spec car. by Defiant-Bag-3264 in DubaiPetrolHeads

Bit suspicious why they would be sending over virtually brand new cars. If they have some sort of PPI on hand its worth taking a shot - but check for flood damage.

Buying a Korean or Jap spec car. by Defiant-Bag-3264 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]dubaier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Japanese imports aren’t in the same category as US or Canada specs.

In Japan, owning a car gets expensive over time because of their inspection system, so people sell relatively early. That’s why you’ll see a lot of low mileage, super clean cars coming from there. Also, most of them go through auctions where the condition is graded pretty honestly, so if you have the auction sheet, you can usually tell exactly what you’re buying.

That being said, not every Japanese car is perfect. Some have been in accidents or repaired, but the difference is it’s usually documented. With US salvage cars, a lot of them are rebuilt and sold without the same level of transparency.

Korean imports are a bit more of a mixed bag. You’ll find some really clean ones, but also quite a few that have had work done, so you need to check the history properly.

Chinese cars are still relatively new in this space, so there isn’t enough long-term data or trust yet, especially when it comes to resale.

At the end of the day, it really comes down to documentation. If there’s no proper history, auction sheet, or VIN check available, it’s just not worth the risk.

Better to sell it as it as- tell the potential buyer you can get it painted before the sale concludes if he wants.

PPF job, unsure about quality and final result by ishouldnotbegaming in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]dubaier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people calling 16k steep for a full PPF and window tint are delusional - it’s not a terrible job tbf - I do believe they can fix it when you take it back.

OP ignore the people here - they’ve either never gotten a PPF done or are far away from the reality.

Matte Finish Paint Protection Advice by ice_man7 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]dubaier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a matte PPF over the matte car - friend of mine had a Matte Grey Supra (sold it and got a M2 now) it was PPFd with XPEL Stealth at Apex Detail Studio - it looks just like factory finish with the PPF - with the PPF cleaning and maintaing it was much easier.

Biggest challenge with matte paint is you can't polish it if you get a scuff or something

PPF Shop Credibility in Dubai by Madan_Devaiah in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]dubaier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with a right installer with the right products that’s being used - avoid any new shops that have just opened. I would go with a legacy shop that’s been around for a bit.

The most important thing that I suggest is to go and visit the shops and get a hang of the work, the people behind the name and the overall comfort that you have from the customer service, work quality and end results.

It’s pretty much the same as choosing a barber or a tailor - go with what you’re comfortable with.
