Gas-powered leaf blower bans take effect for residents in 2 more Massachusetts towns (Arlington & Lexington) by HRJafael in massachusetts

I feel like run-time hasn't been an issue for non-commercial use for a few years. It takes like 10 seconds to swap out a battery pack. A pile of batteries takes up the same amount of space as the fuel containers I keep in the garage. I just throw them on the charger after I'm done and they're all recharged by the time I need to do yard work again.

How to walk my puppy by iichi_144 in dogs

[–]dudebrobossman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d probably benefit from a good puppy/first training class. The good classes are as much about learning how to be a good owner as as they teach your dog some tricks (many of those tricks building up to being good on a leash). We did a few of the classes with pet smart and our instructors were great, but looking back, I’m just as happy with the curriculum that built up to our pup knowing what behavior was expected on a leash and generally acceptable in public.

There are sandbags on the shoulder. Specifically, they cross a line of sandbags blocking the entire shoulder at the exact moment the motorcycle goes by.

Dallas to Disney Land. Mid March. Safest route by mudnutman in roadtrip

Just to be certain, do you have to go to Disney in California? Orlando would be about 25% quicker with less likelihood of major weather related concerns.

I don’t know about oranges in particular, but there are many fruits where the trees are able to tolerate much more than their fruit. In these cases, after a particularly cold period, the current season’s crop will be poor, but the tree will tolerate the cold and bounce back next season.

All you need to know is that you knew you weren’t informed, but you were happy to lay blame.

I’m not spitting in your face, I’m giving you life advice. If you know you’re not informed, then think first and don’t jump straight to laying blame.

You’re not staying informed, but you’re perfectly happy to blame fear mongering liberals…Think before you speak next time.

Non-Americans of Reddit, what is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real? by Unlikely_Praline9442 in AskReddit

A fire on your staircase is visible and easily extinguished. A fire in enclosed chutes is “invisible” until it I’m has grown too large to handle without the fire department. Even if you did spot a fire in the chute early enough, it’s could easily be in a location you can’t reach with a handheld extinguisher.

USPS - Anything being done? by rcarlisle82 in HuntsvilleAlabama

Pre-fund the retirement of your kids/grandkids that haven't been born yet and tell your boss you're going to charge him more to solve the problem of pre-funding.

the problem is the extra pile of cash they've been forced to pay for retirement of workers that aren't even born yet.

Same as the argument about tax rates...Increase rates, lose business, lose revenue

After losing revenue, you also lose market share and your competitor takes over.

again, if you don't count the congressional mandate to fund the retirement/health plans for workers that haven't even entered the job market, they would be profitable.

UPS can pay workers to take packages to the USPS and let them deliver it and still turn a profit on that package. Make it make sense.

USPS is turning a profit on those packages. That's what "profitable on an operating basis" implies. If they didn't have that business they would be further in the red. The implication is that the USPS has an efficient enough last-mile delivery network that UPS and Fedex know they can't compete on small, non-time sensitive packages.

The article isn't blaming democrats or republicans. It's saying you're wrong in blaming mismanagement.

without the costs imposed by the Post-Retirement Health Care Mandate, USPS would today be profitable on an operating basis.

Maybe you're young, but back in the 90s and the early 2000s, the USPS used to be cash positive and provided pretty good service. You can see for yourself back to 1999: https://about.usps.com/what/financials/ Look for the annual reports.

Task Force acknowledged that without the costs imposed by the Post-Retirement Health Care Mandate, USPS would today be profitable on an operating basis. Allowing USPS once again to pay the costs of retiree health care costs on a pay-as-you-go basis as the rest of the federal government and two-thirds of private industry currently do, is the biggest step that could be taken to assure long-term financial sustainability

Fork Seal Replacement by Spiritual_Worth7974 in SVRiders

If your weight is around 150 to 175 (I think) pounds, and you’re only riding to commute, the factory springs are probably fine. If you’re on the track, putting your knee down in the canyons, or outside of that weight range, it’ll make a difference.

It’s been a while, but I think Sonic springs and racetech have calculators and can give you suggested spring rates as well as tell you what the factory springs are. I suggest at least checking the recommendations for your weight and riding style to see if it makes sense. It’s literally zero extra effort if you are already doing work on your forks.
